I will NEVER FORGET THIS DAY lol this was the best most organized chaos I have ever experienced but only if every band that was suppose to participate came. Southern, Grambling, and North Carolina A&T were suppose to be there. It was a bad storm that weekend.

Well being from atlanta, and being somebody who has played in memorial stadium in jackson, bragg memorial in tallahassee, crampton bowl in mobile, aggie stadium in a&t, and legion field in birmingham. HERNDON stadium turns your sound up. Its like a natural amplifier that makes your bands sound 10 times bigger
Facts! Herndon is essentially a bowl, with only 2 escapes: up or out the only open end of the stadium... that sound bounces around like crazy in there.

I can remember battling JSU in the Gulf coast classic in 98 when Kelly Price sung friend of mine in their halftime show. Jsu was bringin it. I gotta admit that was my most memorable battle in the 5th quarter.

If you were there, then you'd know that JSU was packing just as much heat as ASU! The only reason why ASU sounds so loud when they face JSU is because there is a wall to the right of JSU which sound was bouncing off of.. JSU's total sound was much better than ASU that day..
Whoa! Alabama State was so big back in 2008! They atleast two Jacksons put together! Either way, they both was on smash mode! But Jackson definitely felt some type of way when they played that “Freaky Girl” towards them.😳😨😱

@@TJCoolzD seems like band isnt as big as it used to be, and a lot of states are cutting fine arts from schools so kids dont get introduced to band in elementary or middle school anymore like we used to!

@@nigelholland1714 them and cookman are some of the only bands that have had constant numbers. SCSU was almost 300 in this video, and they probably have 40 people now. Texas Southern used to always have over 215 but id be surprised if they have more than 110 now. FAMU used to be damn near 400 strong their numbers are smaller as well.

What makes this video good is that ASU doesn't react but JSU does. ASU literally waited for their turn. JSU was climbing all over each other to get to them to hold up their instruments. Regardless of who anyone thinks took an L, it is without question that at the time of occurrence JSU was feeling some kind of way. If they had have just sat still the video would leave less of an impression in favor of ASU.

I totally I agree with that comment. Everything that is loud doesnt sound good...but you have to give props when props are due...plus the crowd decided the winner was ASU hands down...and thats the untrained ear.
I am a fan of Alabama State University, they did very well but I also like other great bands such as Jackson State University, Southern University, FAMU. Some of you all are getting too caught up on " my band is better than yours" Come on people you all represent a great legacy in being apart of awesome and wonderful bands of HBCUs. Take pride in your school but no need to hate on others. I love to see any HBCU band perform well. Just my take on things.

You know as I watch this..I try not to be biased. I am a MMH 99. I will say this ... ASU does need to clean it up a bit. However, this is a song writing for power and volume not a ballad or a 70's tune where musicality is the focus. Its a rap song!! JSU sounded ok, but it wasnt fuckin spectacular! ASU pleased the crowd and thats what its all about. ASU is regaining popularity because they give the crowd what they want!! Thats why they are growing in size. We are far from the bottom!!!!
