Yah, umm that's what Bannon was. Try paying attention.
I still don't understand who the man who was President who - clear as day - attempted to upend our democracy and nearly succeeded if he was just a tad more competent IS STILL EVEN BEING THOUGHT OF TO BE ABLE TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT. He is clearly a felon, should be convicted as one, and never be allowed to hold office! What the fuck!?
As a Missouri voter, I wrote to Hawley expressing my displeasure with his decision to object to certifying PA's votes following the attack on the capital. The response I got back can best be summed up as "Shut up. Imma do what I want."

I voted for Gore when I was 18, my first presidential election and I’ve been disappointed with our election system ever since. I often imagine how different our world might be if he had been elected. Maybe no war in the Middle East, maybe no 9/11.. maybe a switch to renewable energy. Still feeling let down twenty two years later.

Loved the Al Gore bit. Another loss of a competent candidate we're still paying for today. And Josh Hawley vowing not to run from liberals is an empty promise. He wasn't running from AOC or even Bernie Sanders when he put on some impressive Usain Bolt Gold Medal speed on January 6th.
The United States shot itself in the head in 2000 and the world is now what it is.
The USA might be (would probably be?) a very different place today if Gore had won. If he was able to enact policies to fight climate change and got the world on board with it. The response to 911 would have been different. Probably no war in Iraq or Afghanistan... and ...
Though not a fan of "What if's", it is almost dizzying to imagine what a different world we'd have lived in if Al Gore had (rightfully) won the 2000 election. Not just regarding the environment but education, foreign and fiscal policy as well.
And then to think, having said that, even George W. Bush (oh how we loathed and ridiculed him) at least had the good sense to be enough of a bridge builder to appoint John Roberts to the Supreme Court. Who declined to join the majority opinion in overturning Roe v. Wade. We keep thinking it can't get any worse, and then there we are.
I am still not entirely convinced that within four years we won't have a 2nd Trump term, and a man like Boris Johnson will find himself terribly clever by saying something among the lines of "When I departed this noble house I said 'Hasta la vista, baby'. I should also have said 'I'll be back!' and here I am!" And, regardless of that, we still live in a world with Putins, Bolsonaros and a plethora of other tyrannical dinosaurs with no real concept of justice or urgency to 21st century problems and are, for all but their power, yesterday's news.
Next watch this space. Trolls will blame Antifa
Andy Dufresne wouldn't back down either. But he knew the tax rules. Does Hawley?

First off, early days. Second, early days. Third-- He will be convicted and cannot run. Since Murdoch has abandoned him, the full weight of the rightwing propaganda machine will crush him in any case. But, we'll see. Meanwhile, the Democrats continue to do the adult work of putting the economy back together again and trying to get some action done on the climate, among other things for the People.
Unfortunately, Republican voters are turning away from Trump and toward DeSantis, who's worse because he's smarter.
Smarter, younger, and Desantis actually has friends which makes him very dangerous. We need to find his skeletons and expose him quick.
Not voting for DeSantis but Dems better get someone smarter and better. DeSantis might be worse than Donald in a different way. We need to clean out Washington on both sides.

Have you ever considered speech writing for politicians? Seriously, I am impressed, if no one else in this comment section will admit it!
We could eliminate so much of this political theater if we just switched to 1 person 1 vote. Giving less populated states equal say negates wide swaths of voters by using the electoral college.
Underpopulated states should still continue to be represented in the House and Senate equally, but every person should have an equal vote when it comes to electing a president.
And let's ban money in politics! Most of them will run away from their elected seats faster than Josh "Usain" Hawley.. 🏃🏃🏃 Seriously, we'll have enough to afford both universal healthcare + free education.

EXCEPT, He is giving MAGA GQP ammunition they are using as evidence to VOte Against Biden or a SANE candidate!
@@ericc.sabadin4513 these people are so post-truth that they don’t need ammo from a late night comedian to be based.
America legalized weed to defeat Hitler.
It's on film.
Watch the 1942 US Dept of Agriculture video, *Hemp for Victory.*
Until any of these talk show hosts talk about this, they're all part of the problem.
@@Marijuanifornia I don’t know what past America and their drug issues have to do with it… That Austrian dude took A LOT of ‘inspiration’ from America via Ford; eugenics, genocide, labor camps, institutional racism et cetera. If it wasn’t for Japan America would probably have left him alone, too.
@@RustOnWheels These "depressing times" are meaningless. Climate change is a threat that is far more dangerous than Fascism right now, but you don't have any intention of learning how to stop it. Growing fields of "Marihuana" enabled the US to fight and win World War II. Growing fields of "Marihuana" today will stop climate change.
Read the numerous government and university studies that are online which explain this. or watch my videos which also explain it.
Stephen Colbert played a brief clip of *Hemp for Victory* on The Colbert Report years ago, but it was only a few seconds and never again. That's why Stephen Colbert and every other television personality need to play it again and again and again until every American learns this because cops are still killing Americans over the same Cannabis plant that stopped the Holocaust.
That's what it has to do with today.
They're killing us over the same thing that stopped genocide. Do you get it? I don't think anyone in the US gets it.
Imagine the alternate universe where Gore won.
I don't think people would've liked him. Less fun is not what Murricans vote for.
it's too painful.
Honestly makes me cry
Imagine no war, imagine clean renewable energy, imagine NOT having deadly heatwaves and droughts and extreme flooding… More trees, and more peace
The world would be in a lot better shape environmentally at least. Whats to say about everything else (outside of no Iraq War)
“We are not getting our deposit back on these people” LOL. That poor crowd; I hope they still had fun.
Only thing that smells worse than people who have been sweating in smog all day and then doused with polluted rain...... Would be a pack of wet canines.
That monologue was OUTSTANDING tonight. Thank you for a guaranteed laugh!
Murdoch's new horse will be just as heinous as Il Douche but smarter and more controllable. It's good that nearly everyone can see him for what he is now but the Republicans have a deep bench of eager grifters - it's their core competence.
The murdochs and republicans think they own the trumpets. They dont.
Al Gore went from being a fear monger to one of the smartest men on the planet. He will have my respect forever.
He handled his 2000 election loss with dignity, even though it was the Supreme Court that stopped the recount in Florida and handed G.W. Bush (with fewer popular votes, ultimately) the win.
whatever you do in your life please don't breed we have enough dummies
@@SpicyMayoVegas He absolutely was considered a fear monger back when no one believed him.
That's like calling the snake expert a fearmonger because he keeps telling all the little kids that they will die a horrible painful death if they get bitten by a rattlesnake.
@@runnergo1398 CORRECTION: in America maybe! In the rest of the world Climate Change was a massively debated subject when Al Gore was still wearing diapers.
Tonight’s show was particularly hilarious, laughed all the was through the monologue! Hahaha
The Tipper nod sent me OVER! Right up until Rambo Jesus. OMG! 🤣😂
This keeps getting better and better. Thank you Colbert team.
Some people have gotten smarter since the 1950s. Hawley is playing to those who haven’t whatsoever.
I rememeber driving to work that morning, sitting at the stoplight and hearing on the radio that the Supreme Court had finally declared Bush the winner and Gore had lost. And they found someone had committed suicide after they heard the news. I guess they figured that's the final straw, I'm getting a ticket out of here. Man, that fella missed out on everything since.....
Al Gore also said years ago that if we didn't change that Manhattan would be underwater by now.
Is Manhattan underwater?
Josh Hawley doesn't run from his enemies. He runs from his "friends" and "loved ones".
I can't explain it but I love the way Stephen says 'monkeypox'. Also, this monologue was hilarious
No it wasn't this is pure garbage.
I am still more partial to his Bernie Sanders impression when declaring, nay, demanding "Soup!"
Interesting how AL magically appears every July and August to explain how hot it is .
Bannon’s multiple button up shirts drives me nuts! I’m so glad someone still talks about it 🤣
Stephen, you are absolutely precious. Don’t ever think for even one moment that you’re not. Thank you, sir. Sincerely,
Everyone that matters.
Nobody took him cereal & now look where we are...
Man-Bear-Pigs are running wild everywhere.
Because he's been wrong everytime.
I 100% agree with ; 'Err gag' - let's the Arrest warrants rolling! Way to stay on it Stephen, 'Meister' Colbert.
Your right up there tonight Steven Colbert..🇺🇸..thanks
