- This evolution uses one Engine Company and four members, one supply line, the 2 ½” with smooth bore and an apartment pack with nozzle. This timed evolution begins when the Engine stops at the designated fire area and airbrake applied.
Standard requirements:
The Engine stops at the designated fire area (near hydrant), and members in full PPE and SCBA (mask not worn).
The Engine Company FF #1 stretches the 2 ½” preconnect and shows water.
The Engine company FF #2 grabs the apartment pack and brings to FF #1.
FF #1 shuts down the line, screws off the tip (places tip safely in pocket)
FF #2 attaches apartment pack to the smooth bore. FF#2 stretches the line and calls for water.
FF #1 let’s pump operator know extended line is added on to adjust pressures, FF #1 opens the bail.
FF #2 shows water.
Pump operator must account for friction loss and adjust pressures accordingly.
The Engine operator secures the water supply from the hydrant to the apparatus.
Time stops when handline has adequate pressure and water supply is secure.
Recommended maximum time for the evolution is 4 minutes.
