    I wish I could say this was a good review. I didn't really learn anything significant about the bike. The only real input we get is "it's got improved looks, brake, suspension" and so on. We don't need to be told it looks good, we can tell. But I want to know more. What are the specs, how does it feel to ride, what's the engine's character, does it feel light, do the brakes feel good, are there modes, how does the suspension soak up bumps, is suspension adjustable, and so on? It doesn't take a 15 minute video to elaborate on these, and you could definitely have included at least a few of these important aspects of the bike around the gibberish.

    The main difference to those mid-range parallel twins would be that this has four cylinders, right? This engine is quite a bit more powerful and also has a wider usable rev range than the Yamaha, let alone the little Kawa. It does rev a bit higher but is also sound much better. When I hear a mid-range parallel twin sound I think maxi-scooter, not a real bike.

      I got the XSR700 over the CB650R, mainly due to prize and the engines on the yamaha´s are just fantastic. Dont like to have to rev very high to feel the power. Beautiful machines the hondas though. Really like the headlight on the CB650R

      @sleeper.simulant7327 Před 5 lety

      At my local dealer the XSR700 and CB650R are priced the exact same lol. And the CB has better fit and finish and components. And this i4 isn’t like one in a super sport. It features a very similar head to the 600RR but with a longer stroke, making it much torquier low end. It still revs high, but the power advantage with the CB is significant, it falls right in between the XSR900 and 700 in terms of power, except the price is at 700 level...

I always dream of owning an inline 4 middleweight bike and this could be my dream bike as I love inline 4 bikes. I don't need a 1000cc inline 4 to enjoy and this bike just perfect for me with its usable power. However, I'm wondering whether this bike suitable for city riding?🤔🤔

  • @GaryJohnWalker1

    It's nice that a series of tweaks (ok, large tweaks for the cb styling) have lifted these two so much. For me the naked cb650r looks like a good everyday fun bike. And being of an ancient generation when inline 4 engined bikes were still a novelty and the "future", a midsize one is always a big attraction.

If they went back to halogen, non colour lcd and standard forks it would be right in line with the MT 07 price wise but most MT owners would want all that stuff anyway.

    Two major flaws: first is on the commentary, kinda flat and totally lacking engine comments. Not only figures, but character and feel. Second is the CBR itself, dull and cheap, I’d rather get the first CBR600f from the 90’s with upgraded tires, brakes and suspensions. Same performance, better styling, and cheaper (used bike + mods and a good service, you can get it all just around £4500)

      And the 2014 650F was faster than the 600F by a big margin thanks to the perimeter frame, more bottom end to midrange torque and top end boost. 1/4 mile in 11.8s is decent for a sub 10k bike today, 0-100 in 3.6s and a top speed of 240kph.

      What it lacks in peak power it makes up for in the mid range, very smooth strong engine in the middle revs, and even decent down low for a smaller 4 pot.

      Don’t read me wrong dudes. I am a cbr1000 fan through and through but I want to keep my license. A 120bhp cbr650r would be in my garage if they made one. No hesitation. . . .

      But then a 120 bhp 650 bike would be priced way out of its class, require a pile of electronic control nannies, and need significant engineering in the chassis, suspension, brakes, and other parts to deal with the stupid speeds and power, otherwise you can be sure the manufacturer would get its pants sued off it.

    Trim 30 pounds of fat off them, add 8-10 ft-lbs torque, reduce price 2 grand, and we'd be in the class.
    But no. It says Honda on the badge. Sorry Honda, for all the time and expense you put into jewelry, you could put some of that into giving them POWER and CHARACTER and CUTTING WEIGHT.

      The most HP in it's class (by quite a bit). The only bike with USD forks in its class. The only bike with 320mm front rotors with radial mount calipers in its class. Full high quality LED lighting stock, and a 4 color TFT display. The only bike somewhat in this class that matches it is the Ducati 797, which is a little more epensive, and still down 20hp (though about the same more in torque). I would say given all of that, it's pricing reflects the equipment rather well when compared to an MT07, Z650, or Suzuki SV650.
      I do agree that they could probably shave a bit of weight off of them, but they aren't too bad. The MT07 is about 45lbs lighter, the SV650 ABS is 11lbs lighter, and the Z650 is about 30lbs lighter. That said, they would all likely weigh a bit more if they had the upgraded hardware like the CB650R.
