Sounds like an average neglectful and possibly druggie mom. So he liked attention and was most likely an extrovert but he was bullied and neglected. Then he self isolates himself, grows a darker and depressed personality and becomes mentally ill. Not to mention the 2 years of forced online classrooms. Finally he’s confronted by his grandmother for his failings to graduate and he snaps. Seems like his basic needs weren’t fulfilled and he only made it worse by not coping properly and actively sabotaging any hope to reverse it.

I believe mental health is the foundation of a human being. This is just another example of parents who dismiss their child’s mental health and believe their kid is “fine” or “he keeps to himself” or “he’s just quiet”. Talk to your kids, it all starts at home.

As a gun owner and father of two adult young men I think that it would be wise for Texas and other states to rethink the minimum age for legally purchasing and owning any kind of firearm. 18 year olds are not known for the maturity to think things through and not react emotionally. Revised laws can make allowances for people under 21 to legally use a firearm in hunting situations in the presence of a responsible adult.
This won’t solve the whole problem of violence in the USA but it’s a reasonable step in the right direction. Someone intent on harming others will often find a way to do so.

Important missing context here is that the Ramos was separated to an extent from her mother and was put under the care of his grandparents instead. So Ramos's Mom wasn't always there to keep a watchful eye on him. So she can't really attest to his mental state all too well.
Seems like he had some deep seated issues that he kept hidden from his family and vented out on his peers instead. He definitely should have been reported when it reached animal violence though cause that's definitely a sign he's reaching a breaking point. I'm guessing nobody did cause people didn't really want to associate with someone who kills cats, but that's not okay. Not for the cats and not for the children he decided to slaughter.

It's shocking to me that someone can be expected to pay taxes and defend their country with firearms, but people don't think they be should be able to buy a gun.
Also, your statement isn't accurate. You can't just walk into a store and buy a gun. Texas still has FBI background checks.
Ask somebody in the US to try to walk into a gun store or gun show in Texas and walk out with a gun. Tell me how it went.

There is nothing wrong with an adult buying a gun The problem is that in America, we have agencies that are run by totally incompetent morons. If a crazy person serves notice on them, they look the other way and allow them to buy the weapon anyway. The exact same incompetency was shown in the recent Buffalo shooter case...America is run by totally incompetent (and possibly insane?) morons THAT is the problem, not guns
