      Very cheaply made car. Typical VAG from the last 10 years. Seats made from plastic bottles and artificial leather. Cheap. Fake exhausts. Cheap. Cheap plastics. Cheap touch screens. Nice headlights though. Audi should specialise in making LED lights instead of cars.

    Yet another awesome review. The visual comparison with S-Line was great. I like a lot the animated front turn signals and angular design of the front radar that is under the license plate. What comes to the cockpit I would not change the cabin of my new 2020 Leon FR to this design. I think Audi has gained some functionality with some more traditional choiches such as a separate stick adjustment for automatic speed control (Leon has this integrated to steering wheel). The cockpit of A3 seems in some parts such as the surroundigs of dsg gear selector look a little dated. Also the A3 does not have the new wide LED stripe in the back such as eg E-tron has. It is however nice that they have kept the sedan version in their lineup. Also the light blue color of the S-line looks fab. There are some extratechnical nice details in this video: the moving drone or helicopter 😉 video shots from the countryside including the river scene with canoists and I also notice an another pair of great looking sport shoes with some cool orange details.👟

    Have a chance to have an extended test drive of a MY23 A3 40 TFSI quattro S-line since my own older A3 is service. In North America we don't get the 35 TFSI variants and all of them use a EA888 2.0 TFSI engine paired with a 48V MHEV similar to the 1.5 TFSI models. The car has been excellent - driving dynamics is a good blend of daily comfort & sporty predictable handling, fuel economy is on par with economy sedans like Corolla or Civic but with more shove, and the 48V MHEV start stop is one of the best with the exception of full hybrid cars. I also find the new MMI touch to be very easy to use, and my Samsung Galaxy S23 syncs wireless Android Auto with no issues.
    Definitely a car I might be considering once my own A3 comes time to trade up.

  • @TheAllMightyGodofCod
    @TheAllMightyGodofCod Před 3 lety

    Thomas, when you said 5-6l were you talking about the diesel or the TFSI?
    Love that blue colour and the interior is amazing! I like the vents, kind of remind me of what Renault did with the 25 where the vents were very high and point directly at the driver's hands, which I always assumed would work great on a hot day.
    I know the car is good on a mountain road but I really want to know how boring it will be on the autobahn, on a Friday, after work... Is it boring enough that I feel absolutely relaxed and comfortable driving 360km after a long week but not boring enough as to make me asleep at the wheel?
    I don't mind the torsion beam. It works great, it is lighter and it gives you more space for the trunk. What I really dislike is how VW implemented it: with the car sharing the design of the underpinnings for both suspension which means that with a torsion beam suspension vw gets a better profit margin, you get a lighter car with slightly worst suspension and handling and you don't get the biggest advantage that is the extra space in the trunk.... That is bad.

Oh and don't forget about the motor. Where were the times when S, M or AMG stood for sportiness and added everything, motor, exterior and interior. Now they are making cars as basic and as ugly looking as possbile to push you to buy a 'exterior or/and interior packages'. We didn't even started talking about other options like: security features, panoramic roof, trims, electronic gadgets etc. I'm absolutely against buying interior/exterior visual packages without actualy having a real sport motor. Nowadays S,M and AMG stand for nothing... Wait, actually it stands for: "I had money to buy plastics, but unfortunately I didn't have enough for the motor"!

    you know that you 're watching the most professional, detailed and 'german' car reviewing channel on YT, when the reviewer insists on the buttons' clicking sounds (and he does well, as things like that still separate Audi from competition). Best Audi design since years, the car has perfect proportions, better than A3 Sportback, and makes A4 to look rather irrelevant too. Im not sure about the interior materials, they look like a step-back for Audi, and especially in this price range. Interior design is super modern, except those lines that make the air-vents look like they are stuck, or that they will drop off after 6 months. The 'normal' grey car looks way better. In my opinion, the Mercedes CLA looks sportier/more agile, this looks more luxurious, BMW 2 series gran coupe looks like a 90s Mitsubishi, especially its rear end.

    Hi Thomas, like ever ,your reviews are technologically speaking supercompletes and entertaining of to hear, but with respect to interior and especially to board ,I found to much to much radical this design, very much forced to encage all pieces , especially the air intakes , is regrettable. I prefer the minimalism of yesteryear, or by last, make a copy of yours olders brothers in yours interiors.

    why in the compact segment you can never find a 180/190 Hp petrol car you must jump to a S3 version 300 hp

    • @wardancer400
      @wardancer400 Před 4 lety +1

      Mazda 3 has a 180bhp skyactiv x engine. For the bmw, mercedes and audi, my guess would be they were mainly sold as company cars (at least that's the case in Belgium) and the 180+hp would cost too much/ emit too much CO² and if you weren't buying it as a company car, you can chip tune the engine up to 190bhp for 200 euro so the extra 2 grand would have been a waste.

  • @msport4769
    @msport4769 Před 3 lety

    Thomas as far as the cost-cutting, there are apparently multiple high-touch points in the interior where Audi uses rough hard plastic. Also, perhaps the biggest cost cutting from a design perspective is how Audi exposes the body color door frames and door jambs, particularly the A, B, and C pillars. This is most evident when you’re driving the “Thomas Blue” A3. This is disappointing because the outgoing A3 didn’t have this. Really disappointing as this is otherwise a great looking car.

    Thomas, I’m really torn between the A3 35tfsi and flexing to the A4 40tfsi, both in S trim, but the price difference is consistent. Actual car is a Skoda Octavia 3fl with the 1.4tsi 150hp. Not sure if I can actually justify the price though.... what would you pick!? I drive only 5000km per year... so I probably already spent the most I can justify for the Octavia
