  • For around $20 the Milwaukee Fastback may just be the best EDC pocket multitool / utility knife.
    Get Your FastBack Here: amzn.to/3QESWru
Check out a little something we have been working on: fortwild.com/
We are breaking down every function on the 6-1 Fastback and renaming it after it's serial number to the 1505. With replaceable blades that can instantly sharpen your knife to a hidden blade carrier and a great driver/pry tool I really don't think this tool can be beat! I have been carrying and using the 1505 religously and break down all of the goodness and why you should probably try this thing out! If enough of you guys like this video we will do a full mod on this sweet knife to make it even cooler!

Do not, I repeat, do not attempt to carry this or any other box cutter through TSA. I tested this just 2 months ago. I brought a cheap, lock back box cutter with no blades and no blade storage. To ensure this didn't create issues with my carry-on bag, I placed it separately in a TSA tray through the X-ray machine. They immediately confiscated it. I asked them if it could go through because it was not a cutter. Without a blade it's a handle, and the one I had was only 4 in long. The supervisor insisted it's a box cutter and can't go on the plane. Whether or not this is correct, my experience suggests the only thing you'll get by bringing this tool in your carry-on is losing a $20 tool.

I really like the utility blades because when they’re dull you can just scrap ‘em and reload super quick and probably 85% of my knife use is on cardboard. And I found I kept needing a screwdriver which is the main reason I swapped to this in the first place. It’s pretty cheap so you don’t mind abusing it and a really useful minimalist toolset. For anyone curious, the utility knife Zac is holding near the start is a Gil-Tek RUK V2. Gil-Tek also sells pocket clips for them which makes them feel a lot more like a full on EDC knife, in, fact, I have mine in my pocket as I watch this. The Fastback looks cool though, they seem super popular online, I just wish I could carry one but they are unfortunately considered switchblades where I live. That's the flipside of the legality aspect you mentioned, people have gotten in legal trouble with that opening style utility knife (I'm thinking of a particular case from NY before they repealed the gravity knife laws). Also on the RIT dye front, I have seen Fastbacks dyed black with success, so it is possible. One interesting side effect was the Milwaukee logo stayed paler so it still stood out, although I think the modder used regular RIT and not synthetic RIT, I'll be interested to see how yours turns out.

it’s not a full sized utility knife did you even watch the video? It folds in half and is the size of a pocketknife

I love my 1505!! I NEVER go anywhere without it and use it a lot. Absolutely solves most of the needs I have in an EDC knife. I keep a Victorinox Compact and Leatherman Style PS all in the same blue jeans pocket and I can’t even tell they are there. I recently added the rechargeable Fenix PD25R in the same pocket and still have plenty of room.

I’m a plumber and have carried the Milwaukee Fast back for over a year and it’s still like the day I bought it. Locks up great, still flicks out easy, and gets a great “user patina” from the hard use. Will always recommend it to blue collar workers.

I've carried mine for the last two years and love it!!! I worked as a furniture repairman and now as a general handyman and I carry it every day for work. I did take it apart the other day to do a deep cleaning and noticed that the button that holds the blade in the knife was actually broken which explains why it felt more lose when cutting stuff. I need to buy another one but $20 is a perfect deal for such a great tool. My furniture boss always was showing off his knifes to me and when I told him that I have one with a screwdriver he would make fun of me cuz I would whip it out and save a trip to the tool bench. haha I did lose the bit that it came with about a year ago so i just put another small philips in but I miss having the flat head. like i said ill probably go pick another one up here soon to replace my old one. the screwdriver was a huge selling point to me just wish it had a pair of pilars tool haha but i guess thats what my leatherman is for.
