    When I worked as a plumber we put our tools through some serious abuse and some are even treated as disposable because they get beat so badly but those fastbacks could take one hell of a beating to the point where most of our other plumbers carried them just for the durability and convenience, I don't do that anymore but I still keep a fastback around for really demanding work

    I had a husky one about a year ago. Didn’t have the magnet and kept poking myself when taking it out of my tool belt. Loved it because no one else had one so I never “lost it”. Then I got some dirt between the 2 blades and was never able to open it again lol.

    I have two of the box cutter and bottle opener style. I love it. The hex driver and replacement blade setup make it the best work knife ever. I do buds fleet maintenance, grounds keeping, and small engine all for one company. This knife covers down in all the areas. Plus it actually stays in my pocket.

    I love these Milwaukee knives. I have been carrying one as my everyday carry for several years now. I really like the adaptation of the fold-out driver but it only comes with a serrated blade. Best tool I've ever carried was the 48-22-1906 knife and its predecessor from when I worked in automotive. Used it as a knife, pry tool, smasher, self defense (don't ask), and EDC before I ever knew what EDC was. Carried about ten of them over five years. Two of which were stolen from idiots that couldn't be trusted with a knife, one I purchased myself and it was stolen by a temp, got one purchased for me by as an apology. Solid, solid tool. Used Stanley blades in them exclusively.

    I am guessing that for the 2nd one with the full knife blade, if they made the blade free moving and can be opened with a flick of the wrist, it would be illegal to carry or own in certain areas, depending on local laws. So they deliberately make the blade stiff. They get away with the free moving box cutter blade since the blade is so short. The black one at 8:40 may be legal in more areas since your finger is pushing on the blade to open it, unlike one that relies on centrifugal force of a wrist movement.

      Wow. I can’t believe that worked! Just wanted to mention your tip worked so that you can see it went to good use. I’ll tell you I’ve had several flip knives, different fast backs, a few cheaper ones, then I bought the Milwaukee hardline 3.5” -48-22-1999 and in its defense, in a lot of the multitude of awesome reviews it said it’s going to be a tough knife to open for anyone. I have strong hands and have flipped them open so many thousands of times but always with a flip of the wrist outwards. I’ve lubed this one and opened it well over 1000 times now and the damn thing has barely worn to open easier if at all, but no b.s. I just read your tip to flip it with a down wrist flip first and it came open at least twice as easy! Tried it several more times and while it seems counterintuitive it really helps to flip it down first like you said then flip it up/outward! Thanks for the tip👍

    Get yourself some 10 weight nano oil! It works wonders for all knives. Been using it for years.

      Also the pivot screws, looks like you have to have a bit on both sides at the same time to tighten or loosen

    So.... you need the "needle nose" fastback knife to use the "spare" blade on the "utility"" knife fastback !

    😡😡😡 I haven’t finished watching this and I’m fuming! You showed me how to change out the blades on these things! I’ve been struggling to unscrew the plate that holds the blade in place, to change it out. 3:30 into the video and I’m HOT! (At myself obviously) WOW!

    I know people will moan about you reviewing the French knifes midway but that oak corkscrew one blew my mind. I literally just paused and ordered one midway.
    The lighting and quality was perfect, don't mind the snowflake virgins in the comments. Great review, indepth and very informative.
    Thanks

    The Kershaw #1920 beats all these and been using it for years since it came out. Perfect for warehouse workers and so useful and well made! Inflation has rocket it's price from being less than $15 to over $20 now!

    I've looked everywhere.. and you seem like the guy to ask.. but years ago, prob around 2013, I could have sworn I had a milwaukee utility knife (like these fastbacks) that was spring assisted. One button push and it flicked out by itself. Did that exist or am I nuts?
    From memory, it may have even had a blade storage. No screwdriver and No bottle opener. Just a plan Jane utility knife. Traditional red and I cant remember if it was metal or plastic.

    • @Lauter2012
      @Lauter2012 Před rokem

      Actually it was metal.. amd it also had a silver belt clip.. not the new black ones.
      I just wanna know if a spring assisted one ever existed and if so, the model number please?

    Does the bit holder have a magnet for using regular bits? or they held by that crappy springy ring as well?

    • @AutobahnDan
      @AutobahnDan  Před 2 lety

      No magnet. Regular bits with a divot for the ring get pushed to the back which is quite annoying, but it looks like you can glue in a small magnet to take the slack.
