    Best Video Ever on the subject !!! I love the hints as : How to align the screws, Hold the inside with one hand and the skimmer with the other hand, Tighten the screws one turn each at the time, not to tight to crack the inside plastic rectangle. A Big Thank You :)

    Thanks for the video, very detailed and precise, i have a wide mouth skimmer with a butterfly gasket, and all other videos on youtube showed cutting the liner before installing the face plate to overly the gasket on the liner which did not look very safe for leaking. thank you a ton!

    I did my install..went like this- butterfly gasket going OVER liner in a sandwich style. Interesting here how he doesn't include the liner on the INSIDE of the butterfly gasket. Will we ever have a official answer?

    Bonding is Done so the Pool and the Water, The Metal Decking, and if it's an Inground pool, the Surrounding deck / patio are at the Same Electrical Potential as the Rest of the Ground.
    No part of the Pool can be at a different electrical potential than the surrounding Ground.
    IE, if you are standing on the ground, and you touch the pool, or the water, All must be at the same electrical potential.
    So in Pool terms, Bonding is synonymous with Grounding.
    Equipotential Bonding

    Hey Great Video, I have a question for you about installing a Hayward Skimmer on an above ground 18ft Coleman, I am wanting to know if I can go ahead and make the screw holes in the liner, then mark the cutout of the skimmer, and cut it out with out having the frame mounted on the pool, (sandwiched)?
    Will the liner material split out with out being ( sandwiched) ? I want to use the butterfly gasket and not cut it ( separate the two sides), Thanks in advance, I don’t have any experience with this stuff and you obviously do. I just want to do this once.

    How can I fix the fact that I punctured the nails incorrectly, basically the skimmer would be sideways. I have not cut the liner, just the holes for nails are not lining up correctly. Would the gasket take care of the leak? Should I seal and start in a different area now? What’s can I use to seal properly ?

    • @MGKPoolServiceLowell

      No. It keeps water with chemicals from coming in contact with the untreated cut wall opening

    • @emtravelrn1
      @emtravelrn1 Před 4 lety

      @@MGKPoolServiceLowell All we could find this summer was an Intex. We got a 12 x 24 XTR. My dad and I installed the Hayward skimmer yesterday. We have not cut the butterfly gasket yet, and we put both wings between the inside liner wall and the faceplate. The liner has not been cut out yet, but the water is already above the lower part of the the faceplate. Now I'm worried about the untreated cut wall opening since that gasket fold isn't going to be covering the edges.

      If you cut to much you can buy a piece of vinyl and a small can of HH-66 glue and patch it. If you do this right it will out live your liner.

      I don't have one actually, they always come with Buster Crabbe pool kits. Not sure anyone actually sells them. I would use enamel paint on the metal to seal it. This is what I do for liner replacements without butterfly gasket.
