      It's recommended that you don't go any higher than where the seam starts. That's the way everyone else does it.

    I have one + and one - to say. First the - because not a big deal: why not plug your two outlets prior to disconnecting the two hoses and making a mess? See, no big deal. What IS a big deal is your point about placing the skimmer at the end where the wind blows everything, I think that's Ingenious! I was so caught up on thinking I needed to place the skimmer where the two outlet hoses are and NEVER thought of just running a new vacuum hose around so I THANK YOU FOR THAT GREAT ADVICE! And why was I so nervous about watching you cut your pool? I guess I'm dreading that part but now I know it's not a big deal. I wish you were my neighbor because you really seem like a great guy and I thank you again for this video.

      Do you really have to cut the gasket? I seen a video where they just cut the hole the size of inside of the gasket and placed it around the cut out. So it wasn’t actually in two pieces.

    • @ArchGBUStanton
      @ArchGBUStanton Před rokem +1

      @@MamaJJ79 From what I've learned it's easier and more practical to install the unit THEN cut out the opening because you can't mess it up, it's precise and easy but yes you'd need to simply cut the gasket in half, really easy thou. Leaving the gasket intak and cutting the opening before hand is extremely IFFY at best and you could very easily mess it up and be out on an entire liner.

    • @Superman-xr1oh
      @Superman-xr1oh Před 4 měsíci

      @@ArchGBUStantonIt appears cutting the gasket in half is a big no no. It's designed the way it is on purpose to create a watertight seal.

    How many times have I seen folks cutting the gasket 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ noooooo
    It’s designed that way for a reason.
    1, drain pool to desired level,
    2,offer the template up to the pool, draw round, then cut out.
    3, insert rubber/ silicone gasket snug fit it on the inside & outside.
    4, Pearce the holes where screws will fit.
    5, offer up the appropriate parts and screw together.
    Once compleat attach hose to pump, securely fit.

    I have a 12x 24 intex pool, decided to put in a wide mouth skimmer. Everything went good, decided to put it on opposite side of pump, cut the hole got skimmer installed, turn on pump, it says code 90, low flow. So we unhooked it hooked the old skimmer up, runs fine, but now I have a hole cut in my pool with a skimmer I can't use. Location is very important. I am really sick about this, don't know how to fix the huge hole in pool.

      @raynabean620 Před rokem

      Yes, hose is long enough, just my sand filter pump is not big enough to suction water from other side of pool. If I had cut hole closer to pump, it probably would have been fine. Just wonder if that size hole can be patched, any suggestions on what I can do to fix this. Help!

      @Mr__Allen Před rokem

      @@raynabean620 do you have the original pump for the pool hooked up? I read a lot of reviews as well as have a friend with a 32x16 Intex and the original pump and filter is just too small. I purchased a larger pump and filter knowing I was going with saltwater and needed the extra flow anyways. I am just about to fill the pool, so this may all be invalid since I haven't personally used the setup I have purchased, but just an idea.
