Update on my one. I've sent the fucking thing back! It won't accept a 2006 4.2 supercharged and will not communicate with the OBD 11 at all. There are about 5 or 6 protocols it communicates with and despite numerous attempts it just comes up with a "Failed" message on each protocol I have a £15 generic code reader that reads the codes and clears them. When I tried the maintenance part of it most of the units like air suspension, gearbox and the like when you have downloaded them which takes ages as there are I thing 12 different ones when you connect with the dongle and it comes up to vehicle manufacturer there is a list of only 11 manufacturers and Jaguar / Land Rover is not on most of them. it did have Land Rover on the brake bleed one but not on the one I really wanted was the air suspension, but alas no Land Rover! That had the 11 manufacturers list. No Land Rover. So after paying out £149 for the first unit ( sent that back for a refund) getting second unit for £119 now that's gone back. Selecting the brake bleed on and just seeing what came up caused the check engine light to come on and when reading the faults with the £15 one in fact eight codes came up. Communicating problems with gearbox and six others. I cleared the faults started the engine again and check engine light went out. Whew!

Great vid, but I also have a review to add. I got this recently for my 2005 Bentley Continental GT. It was unable to scan it :( .. it works fine on my other cars but I got it for quick scans on this particular car, so sadly, there's always going to be some vehicles it won't work on, which is a pity, cause the functions, size, and portability are amazing. The car is not the problem as a Launch x431 scans it just fine.

If you have a Land Rover, are likely to keep it for a while or replace it with another, then I would try to stretch the budget a bit and get a GAP iiD tool. Amazing diagnostic tool for Land Rovers, probably one of the best after the main dealer tools.

@@ThePaparaya I have the GAP tool, as do a lot of other Land Rover owners. It is the BEST after market diagnostic tool for Land Rovers. Almost main dealer level, you can change ccf files, code the ecu, properly calibrate the suspension, change the suspension ride heights, you name it, it can do it. There is a big BUT, it's quite expensive.

Hi, really great video thank you for sharing. Just wondering please if you know if it will work on a 2003 Range Rover L322 4.4 V8 Petrol. I have a weird problem where the key fob doesn't work to open (unlock or lock) but works for the boot open still. Also the interior lights don't come on when the doors are opened with the key (all central locking works fine on the key) or just opened but work when pressed except centre front dome light (but map lights do). Boot lights all work when it's opened. After exhausting reviewing of forums I'm lead to believe it maybe the bcm in transport mode but everyone I have spoke to and tried cannot take it in or out of transport mode to see if it is as their diagnosis equipment won't do it. I've even contacted Land Rover Direct and was told since they moved premises in Manchester they got rid of the diagnostics that could do the check so even they cannot do it. Anyway I'm beyond waffling. Great video and really appreciate any help if you know this obd will or can help. Thank you for your help if you can and big thanks for the intuitive video 👍

I don't have this scanner any more, I passed it on to another CZcamsr to test. It should connect to your car, but I wouldn't know what functions were available without plugging it into your car. The Launch X431 I just tested, definitely had the part where you could put it into transport mode, but again don't know if it would work on your car. A GAP IID tool would most likely do it, but they are fairly expensive.

@@Bensgarage Don't agree. Prices according to Ebay plus - on a good day with discount Thinkdiag2 = $AU 230 delivered. Autel MK808 $AU 470 delivered. Some ads throw in an additional accessory kit with multiple vehicle connectors. Both bi-directional and when subscription is over, the Thinkdiag2 is blocked by a pay-wall to use bi-directional and the Autel is not. (only coding, online etc is pay-walled). I believe Thinkdiag2 cost $US 99 to activate per year. Plus the Thinkdiag2 requires an additional interface such as a tablet and mobile phone to use (factoring charge and operation on the external device) whereas the Autel is a 7' standalone unit. The only neg is the Autel is anchored to the OBD2 port as no bluetooth (bluetooth version is worth more) however many people prefer a direct connection/reliability communication methods. Plus the Autel is very expensive to subscribe $AU 250 per year. Basically IMO the Autel wins if you want to 'keep' the full bi-directional capabilities after subscription expires as many DIY's don't want to be caught and perpetually spend, blocked by pay-wall that renders the Thinkdiag2 back to a normal OBD2 $AU 100 comparable scanner unless you re-subscribe. I am talking about overall usability of both units vs dollar value.

What was your favorite scan tool so far, for a Land Rover?

For me, the best even though a bit expensive, is the GAP IId tool. So many functions with the ability change ccf files and flash ecus.

Warning ! It's important to know that this tool only works ONE YEAR without paying additional expensive suscription fees...

The tool still works, the subscription is for future updates. If you don’t pay the subscription it will still run on the updates you have put on right up to the expiry date.
