There's a very cool rhythm to it; sure you have the bududum bududum, but sometimes it's punctuated by just a double or single tap. I watched a clip of a different guy going 40 minutes, and he kind of went into a Tetris-trance for about ten minutes. I mean, he was on the killscreen the whole time, but he had gone further than ever before. It's titled something like "Summoning Salt told me to play just one more time". That rolling tap is hypnotic.
@@MylesTheGreat Relevant? I didn't know it ever became irrelevant. I randomly went to a Tetris tournament /gathering in Greenville, SC several years ago (possibly give or take a few years since Covid messed up my time perception) and it was a bunch of cool people and so neat to watch these people compete. (I am nowhere near able to do anything like this, but as a computer/video game nerd in general...I felt at peace being surrounded by my people) The ironic part was they were panicking because they were having trouble sourcing enough local CRT monitors for each NES....which is kind of depressing. But it reminded me when not even Goodwill would take CRT TVs. so then I assume hundreds of thousands of quality monitors were just illegally dumped in random places since when family's upgraded to their new flat screen 65" wall mounted OLED 4K TV then I imagine they immediately wanted their nice and heavy Samsung/Sony CRTs out of the house.
The reflexes it takes to make this possible is kind of unreal... By the time he's already spotted what shape, where it needs to go, and inputted the proper buttons, I haven't even registered a single bit of info. Sheesh!
Honestly, I’m more impressed with their reaction times and placements. They don’t have a lot of time to analyze the blocks, determine the orientation, and then determine placement. But they do it and 8/10 times they get it to where it needs to be. That’s seriously cool
@ People just have to hate. It's like this with any game. Techniques are developed to push the limits of what you can do. People either can't learn the technique so they put down others who do or they handicap themselves so they have an excuse when they lose. "You only beat me because you're using (insert whatever the meta is)". They have the same tools available as everyone else but they refuse to use them and then complain that they exist.
I would love to see a slow-motion video of your hands/fingers vs. how the blocks move. My smooth brain just can't fathom how you're so accurate with it.
the block drops in the middle and you can move the pieces 1-4 spaces to the left or 1-4 spaces to the right. He knows where he wants the new block to go and how many blocks to the left or right it is from the center, then rolls the amount of fingers accordingly. If you don't know what rolling is you can find videos about it, but basically hes rolling the back of the controlling while the other hand's thumb rests on the desired direction button. The controller recoils off his thumb with each strike allowing for rapid input.
I don’t understand the hate on the rolling everybody does it now just get used to it it’s called evolving It’s just people who can’t do it there Selfs mad that they were getting smoke now instead of practicing.
I find it crazy that we've seen such a massive leap in the Tetris meta this many decades after the game's initial release. It makes me wonder how many more game changing discoveries there are to be made in other classic titles.
