SOFT99 The King of Gloss - Just another old paste wax?
Vložit

- It's rare to see a new products in the paste wax category in 2022. Are past waxes just a waste of money? An old school end of life technology? Could a paste wax make a comeback? Today we test out SOFT99's The King of Gloss Dark/Black and Light/White paint color waxes. Surprisingly these cans of wax claim just 3 months of protection, but our abrasion durability testing told a different story. Do you think these can make past waxes exciting again?

Fusso is my absolute fave. Instead of worrying about all the crazy prep for ceramic coatings I just use this stuff and am blown away. So underrated and more detailers need to know about this stuff
What kind of prep you do before applying?
Incredible durability from these FUSSO waxes. Thanks for mentioning the dust attraction. I’ve found this is a major issue for those of us living in windy and dusty areas.
When he got in the 100th wash i just click the sub button because how committed he got washing the hood
Thanks Charles!
@@DmitrysGarage Brother can i use the black one on metallic silver car ?. Sorry for disturbing you after so many months.😅
500 washes?!? You are THE MAN.
Thanks Brad! Shoulders were killing me :)
Hey Dimitri I just wanted to say thank you for the great videos and content I love the videos on fusso Coat
Glad you like them!
Great video! Greetings from Brazil.
I have four unopened cans of the original old school Fusso Soft 99 12 month wax. Smells horrible but it is the best product I've ever used on my cars. This stuff looks pretty great too. Thanks for the great content!!
Thanks for watching and yea Soft99 makes some super interesting stuff!
I know this is random, but since you had 4 it semestre like you are a fan, the old stuff is still for sale here in south america
Honestly man, incredible work on your channel and videos ! I can't get enough of these videos
He does a great job
I love your content man, I simply can't get enough! keep up the great work! 😃
Thanks!!
Hope you had a great day today Dmitry!
Thank you! Hope you did as well!
Thank you for this!!!!
Always seem to be wanting more more more from you tho… always appreciated tho!
Thanks! Ill keep making more, no worries ;).
I used black king of wax end of summer last year and the car was parked up all winter in the street covered in dirt and grime,in the spring I washed it and it beaded up instantly, wow what a excellent product,I recently used soft 99 mirror shine to compliment the finish and it looks and lasts superbly, all the best from Yorkshire England 😊
Would you recommend mirror shine or kiwami extreme on top of fusso coat?
Amazing job, thanks for keeping going! I've heard tons of good reviews about these being used on top of Fusso for extra gloss. I guess that combo would see the metal substrate degrade before the paintwork! 🙃 I love Fusso + BSD or Ethos Resist. By the way, please test Ethos Resist, been waiting for a year now. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Thanks! Appreciate you watching. Sounds like a good combo, I liked Ethos Resist.
Awesome video and product review/comparison brother. Another great episode
Richard, always great hearing from you. Thanks for watching!
Great durability, about the same as original Soft 99 that lasts 1 year !
Yea this is pretty exciting. I am going to have to test the longevity though.
The Russo soft coat 99 is meant to be paired with the king of gloss or mirror shine.
It is hands down the best wax/sealant I have ever used
The trick to using it it to apply it very very thin
Wet the applicator and ring it out
Thin
Thinner
Thinnest
I turn the applicator lightly two or three times and that is enough to easily do a panel.
It will flash much quicker this way
After 60 seconds I use a clean microfiber cloth and wipe it it
I then use another clean microfiber cloth to buff it
I don’t get any high spots this way
One can should give you thirty applications if not more
I cannot stress enough that the thinner you put it on the better it works.
As for longevity
I get between 9-12 months depending on what the car is exposed to.
Awesome video! I cant believe how durable they are! I wonder if they hold up to full time exposure of 100f summer days real well.
What products do you think do better visually....color saturation and gloss?
I always enjoy using Soft 99 products. I have ventured out on the right edges of their product line on various products over the years and I have been pleasantly surprised at how well they work. I really enjoy their waxes OTHER than the good ole' Fusso Coat, although I would suspect that many of their waxes probably have a lot of the same ingredients as Fusso does. King of Gloss is, in my opinion, pretty similar in performance and looks to Fusso, other than maybe a little easier to apply and remove. I really enjoy their soaps (although they have no scents to them), and I enjoy their "WASH MIST" as a quick wipe down product for interiors. Leaves a nice clean scent which I really like. I wish they offered that one in gallon or liter sizes.
Yea Soft99 is always fun to use. They sent me a ton of other stuff which I'll feature at some point :). They have lots of totally out of left field stuff. I'll have to try the soaps, don't have a sample yet may have to nudge them.
The white version is also hard paste. Ya u need to apply light coat. Its easy to wipe off and the slickness is quite slick.
That’s bananas. Hell of a job.
Is there any possibility that the durability was enhanced by any other variable? While I ask just to ask, I have to say that looked like a phenomenal value. I already use Fusso original, so I’m gonna pick this up soon. Take care!
Thanks Justin! Assuming you’re talking about the durability; There are always some uncontrollable variables, but I really try to minimize them. The panel is pre-polished with a polishing machine the same way. My garage has HVAC for a relatively constant humidity and temperature during application and curing of the products. I try to angle the hood the same way using basic geometry. Im using the same tools, shampoo and dilution. This product is legitimately great at resisting abrasion from a pH neutral wash. Maybe heat or other factors can limit its longevity in the real world. But when compared to other products it was very durable under nearly identical conditions.
@@DmitrysGarage Appreciate the response and rundown. Keep at it- Your channel is a hidden gem that deserves a lot more viewership.
Hi Dmitry, thank you for very useful review! Could you please do the slickness tests on the same glass panel as gloss tests. Flat and horizontal glass will not affect the measurements as much as profiled hood.
Thats not a bad idea. I do use the flattest spot of the panel to avoid having a slope affect the result. I am also looking into custom painted flat panels for all the testing too. One issue with the glass is that people complain its not real paint. I don’t believe it makes a difference but people believe real paint would behave differently. No one in the actual industry (product mfgs) have ever expressed any concerns though :).
Great video once again. You are very thorough in your testing and there's no hiding place for inferior products. Quick question what has been your highest ever reading for gloss in your tests? Cheers
Thanks! I really appreciate that. The highest reading is probably Adam’s Graphene Cermaic Spray
Tac systems shinee wax is very glossy

I just ordered Mitchel & King Pure & Titan. Pure is a wax cleaner & looks absolutely amazing. I’m gonna use Shinee on top.
@@katiecannon8186 yes it’s good, I got Mitchell and king products and I’ve got the pure as well which is great

Thanks for the response. I’m looking forward to it.
Mr. Dmitry,
I just bought a used, white VW Beetle for our daughter. It is in good condition, but there are quite a few « spider webs » in the paint. What light compound and polish do you recommend to correct and finish the white paint, sir? Thank you.
Respectfully,
Robert
Many thanks for the great comparison and explanation, please advise me. I have the silver bronze car and Fusso coat dark version and King of gloss white version, Can I apply the fusso coat on my car for a base coat and top up its with the king of gloss to enhance maximum gloss ??
Thank you.
Hi Dmitry, would you please give me advice what wax or sealant or anything (after compound+polish) any brand to make my white car super shiny or wet mirror finish?
Thanks Before 🙏🏼
So what product is best to protect UV?
My car is all day at the sun here in Portugal
Hello from Greece. Is there any product for UV protection? I have dark grey color car and it is parking always outside. As you know, we have strong sun here in Greece almost all the 12 months. Thank you for your help and your time.
I wish I learned math this way, I would have got an A. 😂
Thanks!

Review North Star Car Cares Firefly Paste and their Morning star Reserve
Hi dear Dmitry!
I am REALLY impressed, seems that these waxes outperform the Fusso New Formula by far.
Dmitry: have you tested a wax with good UV blocking characteristics?
My best wishes from Mallorca, Spain, GREAT JOB👍👍
Hey Joaquín, always great to hear from you my friend. Ive been a bit sick with a flu so just seeing this post. Unfortunately I have not found any wax with good UV-A properties yet. I just don’t know if it is truly possible. Thanks for watching!
That was a great job now I have a question I have a black Lexus what wax is the best if you could let me know I appreciate it thank you
What are you looking for as far as application method? For a spray I really like Wolfgang Uber SiO2 Silica Spray, it's a near-coating that's much easier to use if you make sure you clean it all up and don't miss spots. Turtle Wax Seal N Shine is pretty cool if you just want something from the store. For a liquid Meguar's Hybrid Ceramic is pretty cool, also the Jescar Power Lock+ and the Wolfgang Deep Gloss. Pastes the Soft99s are really durable, it's truly amazing how well they last. I would recommend them. Vonixx Blend paste wax is kind of cool too!
@@DmitrysGarageSo what product is best to protect UV?
My car is all day at the sun.
Glossy best name
The durability in the washing test exceeded fusso?
Yep, definitely more durable. Hard to say if its more long lasting, but they usually correlate.
Hey which one should I use on my silver car 🤔
Definitely the light color one. Let me know how you like it!
Did You maybe test Fusso?
He did a crazy test on fusso, personally I’d get fusso wax then after a week I’d be adding diluted shinee wax after each wash to give it gloss and sleekness.
@@piovo5222put the king of gloss on top of the fusso 99 after it cures for a day
They were meant to go together
Also you could use mirror shine if you want
Mirror shine is literally wipe it on and wipe it off
You desperately need to try bilthamber double speed. Bang for buck it lasts a very long time and is lab developed.
Thanks for the tip, will add that to my list :)
Do you in the US have the old or new version After 2 Years ?
I have 4 cans of the old version
Set for life.
