Carnatic music is the British word for Karnataka music. The foundations of car atic music were setup by Purandaradasa in Karnataka, 250 years before even Tyagaraja was born. Tyagaraja's compositions are all in Telugu and some in Sanskritam. So are Muttuswamy Dikskitar and Syama Shastri's compositions. That is the entire Trinity. + Annamacharya is from Andhra and Swati Tirunal from Kerala. Where is Tamil here bro ? Bunch of carnatic dudes in the last 100 years or so settled in Chennai for the logistical convenience of things. Please tell me what is the Tamil angle here ?
