How would you feel if this is the screen for the Nintendo Switch 2? I play mainly in docked mode on the TV so I wouldn't mind

Some people obviously can't understand that LCD is CHEAPER. It's such a logical decision, it shouldn't even be debated. Nintendo can't afford to release a 500+ euro/dollar console.

@user-yt7jr2hm5q they can't afford it I assume because a $500+ Nintendo console won't sell well enough. Give it a few years and they will release an oled model once it's cost effective
@@user-yt7jr2hm5q on top of what kammi said, actually yes they may not be able to afford oled panels. Miss judging the actual amount of sales you expect could push to a massive loss in revenue. Chances are there isnt an oled panel to fit the whatever size and specs the switch 2 wants. So they need to buy them. If they don't meet the expected sales they promised they could be fined like how apple didn't meet samsungs sales amount they agreed and had to pay a billion to compensate. Obv it wont be in the billions like apple, but it cpuld be a huge sum. Oleds are expensive and RnD is stupid expensive, expensive where samsung needs to sell their competitors if they even want to be able to recoup the cost of rnd.
Lcd is garbage.
If built in Oled is not an option then give us quality S-Video and HDMI out sockets so we may get our kicks on Plasma,Crt, qled and Oled.

As long as the Switch 2 has an SSD or something that rivals the PS5/XS in loading times, and games are properly optimized, sure. Framerate and graphics aren't my priority when playing on the go; if I wanted to play something at 4K120 I'd get a gaming PC.
If a game costs $70 and I don't think it's worth it, I'd wait for a sale like any responsible adult.

LCD is cool and all but oled has higher resolution than led and led has higher resolution than LCD so they’re literally just downgrading the screen
Lcd is fine, though I could pay more for OLED version. Probably aint gonna happen on launch, so will buy LCD bc of way better performance, if there will be old switch games, I'll definetly will buy Links Awakening since the laggyness was terrible on switch
LCD tech has improved since the Switch was launched...not everyone plays in portable mode...and for many families the Switch 2 will be what their child plays on. OLED doesn't make much sense to be the Switch 2 launch standard.

They should olso offer a more expensive oled model for those who want it.
oled has pwm problems like samsung and other brands with that type of display to reduce the cost. Oled pwm contribute with eye fatigue. For me a lcd panel would be great to avoid that
Well OLED is considered premium still so I assume that's why they'll go back to lcd, doesn't matter much for me since I played docked on my LG C3 OLED 99% of the time

For a base model or started model you don't need an OLED screen. An OLED makes sense as an option but not for the base model. I'm very happy that Nintendo are going with LCD as it does signal they are trying to keep costs down and intend to make the Switch 2 asbig a success as the original.

That must be one hell of an LCD screen for them to choose it over the current OLED screen. To me them picking an LCD over the current OLED screen sounds like a really dumb decision for the next gen system as on paper it's a downgrade in visuals and as far as I remember every new Nintendo system was a upgrade in every way over the last gen system.
Nintendo never was great with hardware I’m not surprised.
Makes more sense to start out with LCD then move to OLED in a “New” variation like with the switch to profit the most.
Let's not compare a 2014 LCD screen to a 2024 LCD screen. What you are getting is essentially the PS4 portal screen which is an 8 in LCD screen which is comparable to an OLED
