We've included a lot of bonus versions because although games from Nintendo 64 to above are considered out of the main Dr. Mario games, all of them share the same core gameplay and features Classic Modes that emulate the classic. There's an exception though, Dr. Mario World for iOS and Android, a game that has notable differences with the original.

Man, the newer games aren’t that widespread. After Dr. Mario 64, I don’t think they really went with physical releases anymore. That’s probably why I sometimes forget that Dr. Luigi exists
After Dr. Mario 64, the only physical versions after that were on Game Boy Advance. Everything else was digital only.
Digital games on the game cube?
@@Cyberbrickmaster1986😂
@@Kyle07 I keep forgetting about the one on Gamecube.

Wow! Me too!
Try Tetris 2 it is like a single player version of the flashing vs mode plus the pieces are different shapes. (Also it's match 3 instead of 4)
My favorite version is the first one I played: NES. I've played most of the rest except for arcade and Wii (and GameCube, since I'm in North America). In Hepburn romanization, the Dr. Mario World voice actress was asking "ledi?"
The Gameboy version was also pretty good, assuming you could play it in a way where you can easily make out the different shades of monochrome.
The SNES version has some wierd samples for the music, although the bass is really good.
I've found that the song sounds better when played at a lower pitch. I think it's because some of the instruments sound a little off-key.
You know that "squeaky" part after the first chorus? I think that's an imitation of what the viruses might sound like.
@@nicholasgawler-collins5754 it does sound off-key a bit, if that’s what the viruses are supposed to sound like then that’s just plain odd.
I think dog sings fever music in this version.
@@samuelthehobo4441 I mean, the yellow one is literally named Weird. You can hear another sound bit of those viruses at 9:35, they're truly making that noise. 5:25 if you want a quick reference to the snes one. I think they're "singing" Fever to be honest. Might even directly be the red virus, Fever.
@@13gamerbullet oh that’s interesting, to be honest I’ll probably stay with the NES version since it’s the better game all around.

Great video. It's nice to see Dr. Mario fans. I wish they would make a new Dr. Mario game similar to the 64 one and have online mode like Dr. Mario Online RX
yeah, maybe with some feature of miracle cure and world
If they make a Dr. Mario on Switch (and I hope they do), they should bring back the songs: Cough and Sneeze as well as the option for playing the songs randomly, which was sadly missing in Miracle Cure. They could even add two more songs for Dr. Luigi, and maybe call them something like: Stuffy and Wheezy.
They should have a Dr.Luigi mode
@@whyrwehere And story mode with all of the playable characters in the series. A Doctor Mario Ultimate of you will.
I remember many years ago buying Dr.Mario Express for my DSI, i only bought it because i saw it on that DSI+internet video, I was so young
tyryyujk2
I USED TO WATCH THAT VIDEO OVER AND OVER I USED TO LOVE IT, DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY
What about Dr. Wario? It's the full Dr. Mario, but with Wario-themed sprites unlockable on the very first Warioware Inc. on GBA.
Eh I don't like WarioWare microgames creep me out
@@eutrader74 I can respect that, even though I thoroughly love that game.
It's not just a simple reskinning of Dr Mario because for example if you break a piece off you can push the down button to make it move faster. In the 3DS version the pieces move faster but you don't push any buttons.
I can't believe they didn't add a hard drop until 18 years later
And you can thank Dr. Mario Express for it!
Hard drops annoying sometimes but only because sometimes you accidentally hard drop on the wrong virus

Anyone else gunna talk about how Luigi just straight up uses the usual viruses to represent the weird ones in that game on the side..
I love videos like this. And I like your onscreen text box graphic, a simple and effective retro aesthetic. Good stuff!
I don't know why Dr. Mario 64 was sprite-based, but it's graphics definitely fit well on the GBA.
wow i didn't know mario sell drugs for 30 years

@usertheloset I hope he's not going to be in the video and shut up
@@ismaelgonzalez1456 you mean medicine pills?
Dr. Mario is not a certified practitioner. He only throws pills in a test tube. Miyamoto himself stated that he would never let Mario perform an operation on him.

The ghost image of where the pill will land in some of the later versions is more of a hindrance than an improvement.
@Diskun That's good. It would be fine as an option, just not as a default feature.

22:11 Dr Mario World (iOS/Android) is my favourite out of all of it even it may be on phone
Dr Mario 64 best one
Can’t believe they kept using the exact same version of the Dr. Mario song from the N64 game for almost 20 years
14:13 "We've made it so you can never play Classic Mode. We are introducing Sick Mode."
With all these bonus clips, I'm suprised the Virus Buster mini-game from the second Brain Training title wasn't included. It's essentially Dr. Mario in all but name.
nes dr mario fever and melee's version of it will forever be my favorite versions of the theme
7:38 WHAT. HOW. I. WOULD. EXPECT. THIS. FOR. A. SWITCH. GAME.
9:47 Dr. Mario gamecube is just a port of Dr. Mario 64
NES Dr. Mario was and still is my favorite.
Great video! I love Dr. Mario, own most of the version here except a few I dont have the systems never heard of or the Wii U version but played it at my friend's place. I do have the NES, SNES, N64, 3DS, Wii. The iOS version sucks lol. I love these games I've been on the leaderboards as 1 tied with others on the Wii version and was 28 on 3DS and 32 on different modes on there so a few versions I've been in the top 40 worldwide, it's a game very underrated from a competitive standpoint compared to say Tetris which has way more tourneys, games and events over the years. I'll take on anyone though still on the 3DS version! They need to make a switch version with up to 4 player offline and online!
Give Dr. Mario 64 the control style of later games (Dr. Luigi) and it is the best by a mile.
I really liked Dr. Mario World back in 2019, but then stopped playing before it went dead. Rest in spaghetti! Never forgetti!
Crazy how the GB music is almost as good as the NES version. And both have the best music from all the ports

Very good video topic
Dr Mario 64 is underated it had 4 player battle and a story mode with original characters
Why is N64 the only version with head to head 4 players mode....
I didn't play Dr mario 64
I mean Dr Mario 4 players is...
Meh, I prefer 2 players.
At least me.
It deserves its place as a mode. It’s definitely better and more serious than 4 players working in one board, which was introduced with the Wii version to show off the wiimote
@@kirkjerk Yes, that's true but I think it should stay with 2.
The Wii ver would be too easy with 4 players and I didn't even know that was possible!
I find I play the SNES version and Dr Luigi on Wii U the most, but all are awesome. Although the Gameboy one has the biggest flaw.
What's the flaw?
@@bland9876 the lack of colour. Its no deal breaker though.

how is nobody talkin bout this guy's doctor mario skills
My Favorite Version NES
Before I got a game boy, I played a lot of the NES. For the highest level, the GB version is more difficult because the lower resolution screen means the playfield is only 8X15 instead of 8X16 on the NES, meaning when the pills are stacked 12 high from the start you have only 3 empty rows at the top to work with. The GBA Dr. Mario / Puzzle League version in only 8X13. GBA has the screen res, so why?
EXCUSE YOU, ARE YOU OFFENDING THE GBA? HOW DARE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

NO, THIS DR. MARIO
Dr. Mario for Master System (Dr. Hello, AKA Dr. HellNo) would have been funny to include as a joke
The very first Gameboy (1990) version rules!
3DS is my favorite because it refined the series like Tetris by introducing some new modes while being modern
Although the NES one is a classic

Dr. Mario Express goves really good memories
So... the 3DS version (Miracle Cure) is the DR Luigi Wii U version, with Mario??
They should make a new Dr.mario for nintendo switch.
Dr Mario world is my favorite version
I have not heard of it before😅
I'm surprised you didn't include the germ busters mode from BrainAge
The nes is my favorite version of dr.mario and one of my all time favorites
I never knew the Gameboy version was the first release of this. Interesting!
The NES and Game Boy versions were released on the same day, though if I'm not mistaken the NES one was developed earlier
this brings back memories of when i would go to my aunts house and play against her in the NES version… was my favorite thing to do
You forgot about the Nes Remix versions.
The DR. MARIO in NES and SNES are unsurprisingly amazing for its time in terms of gameplay.
'stage clear, try next'

I really wish for the 3DS ports of the games that was by play choice, they had the bottom screen be the play choice description and the top being the actual game

Dr Mario Nintendo Puzzle Collection - GameCube (2003)
Game Boy, NES, 2 Arcade versions, 3 SNES versions (1 in USA and Europe, 2 in Japan [Satellaview, Nintendo Power], 2 GBA versions, N64, GameCube, DSi, Wii, Wii U, 3DS, Mobile
While I am a fan of Dr. Mario and love the gameplay, I felt that after the N64 version, it saddens me that they practically stopped making new renditions of the songs, or new songs at all (minus Dr. Luigi). It pretty much became copy and paste after that point with the music. Also that much of the visuals, like Dr. Mario spinning on his heel after every stage, are lifted whole cloth from the N64 version.
I know... it's Dr. Mario, and it shouldn't be complicated with high-end graphics or orchestrated songs. We come for the gameplay, pure and simple. But it would be nice to make it stand out a little better to all the other releases and feel a little more excitement like "Ooh, that new Dr. Mario looks and sounds cool to me! I'll go buy it!", than to be "Alright... let's port all the same exact assets into the next Nintendo console...".
Dr Mario express is so nostalgic to me
