The Coziest Hacienda in IBARRA 🇪🇨 | Imbabura Ecuador

- A family estate in the most beautiful area outside Ibarra Ecuador, in the heart of an Indigenous community running rural tourism.
We visited Isabel Noboa at Hacienda El Cerotal, which has been in her family for years. It has this amazing ability to be so grand and vast with so many rooms, and yet feels so cozy and homey, lived in.
Photos throughout generations of her family are throughout the home, gorgeous artwork her mother created and shelves of books and games lined with family favourites.
People often look for the best hotels in Ecuador. But this is so much more. It has heart and history in this beautiful landscape.
And it's not about luxury but you have this strong sense of connection. Isabel grew up coming here with family and loves the land and the people on it. She took us through the neighbouring Indigenous community that has experiences for tourists, and we met a WIlman, a local shaman who explained how ancestors have been using a sun calendar and other techniques to farm long before modern technology.
He has a temescal, or steam like cave where people come to cure spiritual and physical illnesses with plants and herbs. He walked around his grounds as he explained the healing properties of plants.
My only regret was not staying more time. This is a place you can get lost in. You can book the entire hacienda for groups and it comes with a cook - and AMAZING homey meals.
This is a really special spot in Ibarra Ecuador and I'm so thrilled to share it.

Need an English speaking guide in Ecuador? I hired my friend Andres to tour the country, he's got an SUV and is a licensed national guide. The best way to reach him is on Whatapp: +593 98 711 9550 and second best by email at andrivet77 AT gmail.com.
His family also owns a series of small hotels in Cuenca called La Casa Cuencana and you can book directly with him.

Hi I'm Ayngelina and my full time job is my site BaconisMagic.ca it's all about the best food around the world and how to make it at home.
In 2010 I left a job in advertising, 5 year relationship and sold all my possessions to travel the world. In the last ten years I've had some crazy experiences and even owned a restaurant in Toronto at one time. And prior to 2020 I had been based in Cuba.
When the world shut down I returned to Canada and decided to teach myself video. I wanted to share more than just words and photos but to show people the adventures I have learning about food around the world.
I'm not married. I have no kids. But I do have a lot of local friends who help me discover the best local tips.

I watched this 10 months ago. It is my go to vlog to dream, restore, to hope. It is beautiful. I miss Ayngelina!!!
Aww thank you so much. I'm still here! Well I'm posting videos from Indonesia and traveling in Colombia right now.
Didn’t know Ibarra was this beautiful. Thanks Ayngelina!
I think northern Ecuador is really underrated for its sheer beauty. I have a few more videos in the area and I hope to go back in a couple weeks.
I worked in television for decades and must commend you on your camera work and editing. Well done!
Thank you! It's definitely a learning process but I really enjoy it
Wonderful video thank you beautiful place
Thank you so much. It's been one of my favourite places to stay at.
Ayngelina this was amazing to watch, so beautiful. I could live there forever. Black berries my favorite berry. Interesting to see several spiritual practices. Nothing like nature for healing. I enjoyed the entire experience. Thanks!
It's such a special spot. This video is a bit different as I'm not talking for most of it. But I felt like the scenery spoke for itself.
@@ayngelinaExcellent 👌
I love all these haciendas, very interesting about all the medicinal plants in the different areas as well. The little touch me not type pods that burst open when you touch them reminds me of the similar ones we have here in NS but the flowers are orange
Yes I thought the same thing!
Wonderful place, we'll have to check it out, and great video!
There are so many great haciendas in northern Ecuador, but this one was really special.
Your videos never disappoint. Fantastico!
Thank you so much Mike, if there's a town in Ecuador you want to know more about please let me know!
That was beautiful!
It's such a stunning place, northern Ecuador is beautiful
That thumbnail is stunning! I want to go here!
It doesn't even do this place justice.
This is definitely a place I will visit in my travels . Thank you Ayngelina
So glad you liked it! Northern Ecuador has some really lovely accommodation.
Imbabura 🤗 Thanks for the video
I'm thrilled you enjoyed it 😊
This hacienda is like heaven!! I could stay there forever. I am an animal lover, so the horses being so friendly just made the place more dear. So, it is on my list if I can ever get out of Cuenca. Do you have more information on the place??
Yes you can reach them at www.tierradelvolcan.com/hacienda-el-cerotal/
Wow you really knocked it out of the park ! That vlog was so visually stunning that I stopped in the middle and dragged my husband downstairs to watch it again. It has motivated me to pick up a 2nd job so we can afford an exploratory trip. My husband and I are planning to retire in Ecuador in 2026. Your video is a testimony that we are making the right decision to move. Excellent job! Im soooo excited to move! Can you do some videos on Manta. My husband wants to move there but I want Cuenca. Best wishes!
Wow thank you so much for commenting. This one was a bit different in style but El Cerotal is so beautiful I didn't need to say a lot.
Manta is on my list for March. I'm planning a road trip that starts in Esmeraldas and ends in Guayaquil. I had hoped to do it in January but a lot of things are closed, including beaches on Sunday with recent restrictions.
Very beautiful.
It's a spectacular place.
This is quite a nifty place.....you got wilderness everywhere...I love the horses and plant life....Is the owner of this hacienda Ecuadorian? She sounds from Spain...Anyway,very peaceful place..Excellent display,,,Thanks
Yes she is Ecuadorian and grew up coming to this house, it's been in her family for generations.
Another great video

You'll have to stay here and then head to the market to have cuy!
@@ayngelina hahaahahah you want me to try cuy ha lol only cuss you say so
@@ayngelina lol
If you like I’ll like it cuss you look like have a good taste
Excellent video!!!. The views are incredible . Thank you for sharing. I would like to visit that place..it is expensive?. What happened with the food taste.? The soup looks delicious. I think I saw chochos. How far from Ibarra the city?.👌
It's not expensive at all. Of course it depends on when you go, how long you stay and how many people...the food was incredible homestyle, it really fit with the experience of being in a family hacienda. They have a cook on site who is so talented. I didn't show a lot of the food in this one but don't worry Wednesday's video is almost all food. Oh and not far from Ibarra, you could pop into the city for the day and come back to the Hacienda.
💚
It's such a special spot
Awesome video, I want to know how did you get in touch with the owner or is this like a resort you can rent a room?
Yes you can contact them to stay there at www.tierradelvolcan.com/hacienda-el-cerotal/
nice video whats the cost to stay there?
It depends on when you go but I'm pretty sure they have whatsapp on their site if you know your details: www.tierradelvolcan.com/hacienda-el-cerotal/
If we look at the haciendas as points where the obraje was carried out and witnessed thousands of deaths of indigenous people, it is no longer so beautiful. They are places that recall the sadness that the human being can exert against another human being.
They represent identity theft and land misallocation.
You make a very good point here, something I hadn't thought about. Thank you for the thoughtful comment.
Is that Andres walking with your group?
Yes it is Andres walking with Isabel and I am hanging back.
what is the elivation there
I'm not sure, but they may have that on their website.
did you hire a driver or rent a car ?
Andres is a national guide and has a car. I hired him to travel with me. That said, I believe Tierra de Volcan can arrange transportation from Quito.
