    Great idea to reverse the work piece, I destroyed the cutting tip on my long hole borer by pushing it into the live centre.
    I realise that this is an 11 year old video, I haven't seen any of these kits for sale recently, mine is about 20 years old now, Just changed my old Record No. 0 for a Coronet Herald which has number 2 MT head and tailstock, so today got two MT1 to MT2 sleeve adapters to be able to still use the borer. Incidentally, mine came with a removable pointed centre for the tailstock, rather than the long bar with a point on it.
    Love the way you recess the lamp holder, very inovative.

    This is such a useful set. Why has it been discontinued? I'd like to get one, but can't get it anywhere. Can we expect this to be available again in the future?

      I just got a similar one made by Planet. It is British made and appear to be good quality, however, I would have gone for a Record one if it was available.

    Should the auger have an open profile, say similar to something like a fine spindle gouge?

    • @RecordPowerTV
      @RecordPowerTV  Před 3 lety

      it does have a open profile as you suggest or flute to catch the waste but on the cutting end its a split winged cutting action ,that why you would cut around 6mm-- 1/4 inch then remove to release the swarf from the hole before going back in to continue....

    I'd like to drill a hole that is eventually 3/4" - 1" in diameter. Any recommendations on how to increase the hole dimension?

    • @RecordPowerTV
      @RecordPowerTV  Před 2 lety

      Hello, thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, this is not something that we provide. Depending on the length of timber, you may need to drill from the opposing end, which is similar to our recommendations for when making items such as pepper mills. If you would like to discuss further with our experts, please contact 01246 571 020 (and select option 2) or email technical@recordpower.co.uk. Best Wishes, Record Power.

    This is really good, but I would like to drill holes something in the range 14-24mm wide and this kit would only allow me to drill 8mm. How should I proceed ?

    • @Baumscheibenkunst
      @Baumscheibenkunst Před 4 lety +2

      Wouldn't a long standard drill follow the 8mm hole?

    The auger will not touch my laburnham lamp , any suggestions

    • @RecordPowerTV
      @RecordPowerTV  Před 3 lety

      Hello Philip, thanks for your message. Due to the hardness of Laburnum, it's recommended to sharpen the auger bit to give the best performance possible. This can be done using a diamond stone. If you are still having difficulty, please call us on 01246 571 020.
