Pipe Flange, side grinder, took 5 minutes! The blade would slide down but not off, used pipe flange to slide fan blade back down on shaft, then took side grinder and filed the shaft down all around, flipped over put pipe flange on bottom of motor, hit shaft with bolt - Done! Thanks for the pipe flange and cut off method idea, I just tweaked it with what tools I had. Pipe flange kept it from messing up my three blade fan.
Man, CZcams just suggested your video tonight. I spent 4 hours today tried to get the fan blade out and ended up bent it, now I've to buy a new one which is about $165.00.
Amazing video sir! Was just on site trying to bang one out, got stuck without a gear puller! All I had was a wood blade but I cut it off punched and boom! Thank you so much, YOU finishing up my job for me hahah
Thank you!! I just watched this and had the fan blade off in about 10 minutes, (most of that looking for a bimetal saw blade) This was incredibly helpful and I didn't see this method in other videos.
Dude, this is awesome... I have puller and usually use... But I met my match that didn't want to break free, Liquid wench, torch, puller, Nutting worked. However, your method worked just fine, Motor being replaced so no love in cutting shaft! I didn't have any pipe at location, so I used long socket as base. Hell I might just do this on rusted units all the time! forget wasting time with puller. Big Thanks! PS you know they don’t teach you this in school!
Great idea with the pipe nipple and flange. Two questions...... You specified getting two pipe nipples. Why two nipples? And......after cutting the shaft, you set the fan up on the nipple, and drove the shaft one way, then turned the fan over to drive the shaft the other way and out. Why not drive it one way, all the way out?

I did that to so many fan blades that other contractors said couldn't be done
Good
Where can I find that base
Its A 5x1/2" Pipe Nipple and A 1/2" galvinized flange
What a pita!
