- Using a fan blade puller fan be beneficial in saving you both time and unwanted exertion especially during the summer months. This is a hard job if it is stuck but with the right tool it's as easy as 1...2...click to watch.
Very enlightening video! Thank you very much!
Great video, would you make a video of the tools that you carry in your tool bag?
0:45 Agree about applying lubricant & letting it soak in, but it doesn't "remove rust or contaminants", it allows some lubricant to get down between the fan collar & the motor shaft. WD-40 can work with 2-3 applications but a penetrating oil like Liquid Wrench, PB Blaster or Kroil are better at this. Also as with any puller type that uses a center bolt, it's a good idea to lube the threads on the bolt where they go into the puller housing.
2:30 "You want to hold the base of the fan blade puller as you're torqueing it down slowly." Sure, but look a little closer at the tool where the bolt goes into it. That raised rectangular part on the tool is there so you can get another wrench on there to help you hold it still.
Great video
Crystal clear
Thank you

Beats drilling out the shaft!
The problem with pullers is they often distort the hub and unbalance the blades as a result. Try finding a new fan blade once you discover you've unbalanced the old one on the same day. It often isn't easy. You've just taken a fifteen minute job and turned it into a couple of days. It is much safer to drill out the shaft using a pilot drill first and a larger 3/8 drill next. This releases the tension on the fan blade and it comes off easily. I use a puller as a last resort and I've got a couple of very good ones. And it takes me less time to drill out the shaft. The only expense is replacing your drills every four or five jobs.
Your doing it backwards. What you just suggested is a last resort if this does not work!
Nice! Just did one yesterday and boy it was stuck. Puller really helps.
i'm not in the business and tried to hit shaft with hammer and got my thumb twice...........ended up cutting base of shaft with sawsall and then punched shaft out from reverse side with a vice and deep socket and punch.......bought the tool to have for 31 dollars on amazon and will never look back even if i never use it again

Great video! Where did you buy the tool Puller?
Amazon has it for $30. The brand is Supco. Thank you for watching! :)
Sam Thanks!
how i want to order
I used wd40 and applied a crescent shaped ice cube to the shaft to make the diameter contract, and avoided applying the ice to the collar. Or maybe the melted ice mixing with the wd40 accelerated the lubrication process. Whatever it was, it came off with minimal effort.
what if the shaft is long AF!!!!... ? and the threads are not grabbing to pull it off ?
Exactly! I see there’s not an answer, after a year☹️
Cut the shaft off to a length the puller will fit down onto

Honestly, in 2021 there should be no reason that something so poorly designed exists as a universal part in the hvac industry. Just ridiculous how poor this design is.
