Met all the guys at the Spanish city in the seventies before they formed dire straits. Mark is a quietly spoken guy easy to talk to his talent grew and grew they got taken buy suprise the MTV rocketed them to stardom on a rollercoaster beond belief he was told at a guaitar shop early on when looking at a guitar in newcastle you break that I will break you wonder if he ever went back and bought the shop .mark infact has a house down on the south coast.

He was mesmerised by Chet Atkins and had to know how to play like him my dad played exactly like Chet Atkins and he taught me how to do it when I was a young teenager it took years for me to figure out how to keep that thumb thumping on them top strings while I was picking out a strong with my fingers on the lower strings. Like Mark said you have to tape your fingers to the guitar while you're playing with your phone that's the only way he could figure out how to do it. I figured out how to do it just washing my dad side-by-side trying to figure out how he can keep that phone beat and pick up the songs with his fingers. I still do it today and hundreds of people have asked me to take them and I try the hardest I can but I can't make them do it they have to do it themselves just something this in my DNA I guess I picked it up but I can't seem to teach other people to do it. I go to jam sessions and places at bars and stuff and play my music and people will stand in front of me and asked me how in the hell do you do that and I just tell them practice practice practice and that's exactly what Mark will tell people you just have to do it over and over. Mark will tell people and I will tell you the same thing you have to practice 8 to 10 hours a day to learn how to play like this and he did and I did I just didn't take it to the point where I could write music and be famous but I love to play the guitar and hear the music I can make a mimic Chet Atkins I can play all of the songs and I just love to see around and play it I don't have a desire to make music professionally.

Some Saturday's night was organizing parties in my school and others.. No Disco's, we had not age, only for up from 21 years old.. Sultans of Swing Always was playing... After this bought the second album, the third, then Alchemy, was a Flash to everyone.. Etc.. Got lucky to see Dire Straits last tour.. Alvalade Stadium Lisboa in may.. Missed the Bishop Bless of Economics PHD between the others phd.. In the concert was in front of stage with some friends, one told something to a tall guy in front to put over, they started to "fight".. The crowd stay away.. Mark Knopfler playing the first song Calling Elvis and I saw that he was seeing the "show".. I take off the sneakers of the tall guy, trough them away and sundely he calm down.. Then, in 98 saw Him in solo, with Golden Heart in bullfight stadium Cascais.. Still hear sometimes the albuns... Remember in a interwiew, long time ago, about his music influences, and one of the great ones was JJ Cale.. I was surprised, but not very much yeap, his way of play... Keith Richards is the Riff Master.. Stones fan but the great albuns were with Mick Taylor Got almost JJ Cale albuns, before Mark Knopfler saying this.. I had 20 years when I bought #8, amazing, and then the others.. Saw in CZcams Brian Johnson talking, they are friends, AC/DC great because of Angus Young.. Style bands, like Classic Music.. Money for Nothing was a great hit everywhere, Disco's etc.. Played with Clapton and he "KO" him, only Mark Knopfler can play it.. The great guitar players have his own wonderful style.. A fabulous guitar player, with his own way to play, the picking.. Jeff Beck was the same, fabulous too but more eclétic music and no vocals.. Dire Straits come up with New Wave music generation, Clash from punk but they improve after.. Lot of great bands.. But great and unique guitar player a few, Mark Knopfler is one of them.. Nowadays I just can't see, so far away.. No great guitar players long time ago... He certainly helped design some of the Pensa Suhr guitars. The famous one is the MK1 (clever name!), which was designed to be able to sound both like a Stratocaster and a Gibson Les Paul so Mark didn't have to keep switching between so many guitars during concerts. It's probably my favourite of all Mark's guitars. He also sometimes plays a blue MK2. So technically they're not signature models, but ones that exist because of him.
