    Funny how people look down on the 718 as the poor man porsche....was in dealer looking at one but at same time trying to convince myself to go a used 991 S but after driving both a base 718 makes the 991 feel old fashion!

      I take my comment back...after spending the weekend with the 718 has way more depth. There’s no cheap way out sadly.

    Hi, this is the best comparison I have ever seen on CZcams! Nicely done! 911 this time is just not as good as we all expected. 718 however, much refine and better all round sports car!

    718 but if I could afford the 911, it'll be it, no question asked.

    I love 911s, but have never like them in convertible form. The 718 in profile looks much better.

    EXCELLENT review! Especially now with the 718 Spyder GT4, the 718 is really the best sports car from Porsche (barring the GT3 for a racetrack). On a winding road, I’ll take a Spyder over a GT3 any day.

    911 always, the rear engined 2 wheel drive setup is something very special and it's an iconic sports car.

    Great work as usual, I am always thankful. FYI, there is no easy-release on the front because the hood opens in the direction of travel and must have an arrest hook in case it comes unlatched while driving. Seat Comfort, I drove 1,156 miles in one day in that 18way sport seat and this old man came out of the car feeling like a fresh pair of socks pulled out of a bottom dresser drawer. My only problem was I forgot how to walk. I had a 911 in college, it was called the Beetle then. I decided not to get another until they got it right so almost 50 years later I purchased a well equipped 718 Cayman S, the mistake free turbo Porsche with no nostalgia premium attached. For the record my b8.5 RS5 is doing sports car building wrong also but it is more 'up-front' about it.

    Perhaps wheelbase is more significant than car body length? Great video. Thanks

    • @autogefuel
      @autogefuel  Před 5 lety

      Interesting thing is that Boxster is 2,48 m whereas the 911 is 2,45 m - so there is hardly any difference, however even more surprisingly that the wheelbase of the 911 is slightly longer

    I have been looking for a newer and sharper 911 cabriolet to replace both my 986 Boxster and 996 Targa... turns out a better 911 cabriolet might be a Boxster!

    What ? No Thomas blue? That is ok , Porsche in any color is nice. The 911 sound is great and much better than the 718...

  • @mister_ray
    @mister_ray Před 4 lety +1

    The previous 991 generation of the 911 seems much more similar in styling to the 718. I will take a 991 over a 718. Specifically a 991 GT3 or GTS. The 992 interior is just not traditional enough for me.

    Ive always avoided Porsche simply because the range confuses the hell out of me......and not having £100k to spend on a car. Lol

    718 BEST handoing than the 911

  • @lc4033
    @lc4033 Před 5 lety

    The 992 is obviously much faster but i have to admit that (especially in person) the 718 looks nicer. That 911 costs around 150k. Next to each other, you will never imagine it costs 80k more than the 718.
