How to turn scraps into beautiful useful scales

Lets use some scrap walnut firewood we found on a camping trip, to make some cool scales for a CJRB Pyrite. The wood is too pretty to burn and can be used for a lot of great projects. What would you use it for? Let me know in the comments. Maybe i can try making it.
