Very SURPRISED by this EDC! - Quick Look at a Kershaw Iridium Blade HQ Exclusive
The Kershaw Iridium turns out to be a really nice little everyday carry pocket knife. It feels very solid and nice in the hand. With an aluminum set of scales, d2 blade and crossbar still lock, it should handle everyday use to hard use very well. I’m just very pleasantly surprised at the quality of this knife.

    im an honest commenter it ; looks great i like the burnt wood look , however and i statre this clearly , your description says built from scrap is this a mistake in spelling and you meant from scratch as throughout the build i did not see anything that resembled scrap material , no rust removal from any metal surfaces no planing of grey weathered timber in fact the only thing i saw was new material being cut up and used in the building of the trailer , though it did turn out good for a box on wheels . look on utube for people who have built camper trailers using scrap such as old box trailer frames and second hand building supplies they picked up from demolition sites and repurposed to make their build then call it buuild from scrap as yours is clearly not built from scrap , even if you had the material lying around in the yard from old projects it can be considered as scrap , but then you see the foundary scale still fresh on metal then its clearly new material nicely dar timber with no greying clearly new ...lol sorry but i am honest still like the plain look of a box on wheel youve cut out all the effort in making a camper practical for your standards i guess ... ohh and if you think im being harsh no , im a metal worker who builds trailers and stuff for people as a hobby / sideline and a tinkerer of all trades car , bike . boats and use to work in construction so enjoy my honesty for what its worth .. sorry thats aussie straight up we dont do bs unless we are joking with our mates but in no way is my commenting aimed to offend ... cheers

      Nope, just an iPhone auto correct typo. I don’t put any effort into the descriptions. It was meant to say “scratch”, which was probably pretty obvious. But, I will say that if you’re a builder, you should know its more than a box on wheels… if you’re really able to look and see all the signs from a builders perceptive. Just my defense of this little camper i created ;) As for “building” myself, I’m not just doing it on the side. I grew up in construction, have built pretty much entire houses, commercial buildouts and pretty much you name it, I’ve worked on it to some degree… plumbing, electrical, pools, fiberglassing, rebuild motors, auto restore, Aside from the welding. I had welded some, but not much. There was a steep learning curve there with the stick. The mig was easy, like cheating. But yeah, no worries. Sorry to lead you down the wrong path of you had been searching for “scrap” builds. I’ll go change it now. Cheers🍻

    • @bossman6174
      @bossman6174 Před 3 měsíci

      In North America they say build from scratch when you build something from materials bought in the store OR scrap. It is just saying we did not buy something that was already pre assembled or bought whole. When we say build from SCRAP than what we mean is we build it from scrap materials. Like from the junkyard or from old pallets or whatever scrap. Your comment is valid but it is the cultural difference and the use of language here that makes the difference between countries.

    Are pocket holes the best way to hold up the walls structurally?

    • @carneraerial
      @carneraerial Před 8 měsíci

      The pocket holes are only holding the walls DOWN in place. The joists are holding them up and binding everything together and the GLUE along with the epoxy and fiberglassing are bonding the walls to the floor. Basically the pocket holes are just pinning the walls in place until the other things take hold.

    Great video, I've been interested in grabbing one of these. Not as much a fan of this style of button lock, same as kizer's. I'm sure it's fine, but I much prefer the civivi approach which is actually a liner lock and the button feeds through to push it aside rather than putting a finger in the blade path. I feel it's a stronger lock than just a plunge style button. Still think I'll get one, hearing such good things about it so far. Thanks for the tear down video, real helpful!

(I made the trailer out of 3/16 2x2 with a 3/16 2.5x2.5 square stick so its too much metal and heavy.). When i get home, I’ll look at my notes and see how much the above metal material about weighed.

    Just a thought for those thinking about building one of their own, an idea to keep in mind is tires/wheels. If you keep the bolt pattern the same between your main towing vehicle and the trailer you can interchange your tires/wheels as needed. In an emergency you can always take a wheel off the trailer and ditch your trailer, coming back to get it later. You can carry a single spare for both if you keep the the same. One less thing to worry about.

    Great job. Always lots of great lessons on trailer #1. 1200# and 2000# Timbren do fit on a 2x2 (like you said).

      That’s for sure! Would love to build a second trailer. Good to verify that. Those Timbrens ride very nice
