The Stylistics was formed in Philadelphia, PA in 1966 from two groups, "The Percussions" and "The Monarchs". When members from each group were drafted or went on to further their education, the remaining members under the guidance of their English teacher Beverly Hamilton joined forces and changed the name to "The Stylistics".
After working locally for a number of years, the group was approached by Bill Perry who asked if they would be interested in recording. Their first song "You're a Big Girl Now" was recorded at Virtue Recording Studio, a local studio in Philadelphia. It was soon picked up in the tri-state area and before long, it became a number 1 hit in Philadelphia and a few other cities. The success of the first album was phenomenal for that time along with an unheard release of six singles in total.
The ball continued to roll with the release of their second album entitled "Round Two". The Stylistics were becoming known as the Philly group with the sweet love songs.
Some of their famous hits include, "You Make Me Feel Brand New" and "Break Up to Make Up".
Herbert Murrell and Airrion Love are the remaining original members of The Stylistics. They are joined by 2 new members, Eban Brown and Jason Sharp.
The Stylistics shares their successful career while on tour in the UK last year.

Fantastic Interview, These gentlemen seem so sincere. I love them to the moon and back . So much class.
Love this interview. They are truly blessed. You can feel the love. No bitterness, just pure love. They will go far. Much love and peace to you all.
I agree it was a great interview. A humble group indeed. One of the members said "we are not the greatest singers in the world". To that I say...No one person can claim that title...However, your group is one of the GREATEST singers in the world. I love you... You made a difference in my life and for that I thank you!!!!
love these guys...they are the style...

I want to share a profound experience I had the first week of Jan 2019. It was late one night as I slept in my bed when suddenly I woke up to this song blaring in my head. The song from The Stylistics called, You Make Me Feel Brand New. I had no clue what the band name was at the time or if there was ever a completed song with the words and melody published until I looked it up to figure it out and I recall hearing that song when I was a child. The reason I am sharing this personal experience is that I had been dealing with a block throat chakra and I had asked my guides for some help with clearing it and restoring balance, so Thay woke me up at 2:22am ( seeking balance ) to work on it along with my actions, of course. I sat up feeling amazing, energized and deeply loved, so I decided to put on my socks, and out of my mouth, I start singing this song, God bless you, you make me feel brand new. My two cat friends came to sit next to my feet starring at me. I'm singing, feeling so much love . next thing I knew I'm standing outside on my deck look up at the stars while serenading my sleeping neighbors LOL. I saw this bright blue light near the 7sisters, it lasted for a good minute then disappeared, and so I looked to the left and saw a shooting star as if the galactic was saying, Roger, that! We hear you loud and clear. A week or so later, I received confirmation that my guides and Pleiadians are the ones who choose that song to clear and open my throat chakra so we could work on it! I want to give The Stylistics a BIG THANK YOU for creating such beautiful, heart-lifting and healing music. I want you to know that even the Galactic beings heard and knew your music! Many thanks and love.
Loved this interview. You can feel the love they have for one another as friends. Loved their reference to their spirituality. Loved seeing MY love Airrion flex his muscles. (I play that part over and over lol) Loved all of their heartfelt thanks.
A great interview in a comfortable setting. Really personal!
+Purple Lavender thank you
I wish Eban was able to stay with the group. They are fantastic together
Thanks so much for watching
I totally agree.
but I still feel that Russell thompkins,jr. is and will always be the king of R&B soul forever...
I've always wanted to be part of a girl's group. But cannot connect with that kind of chemistry, some aren't blessed in such a way..🙄
I like eban brown, but with Russell thompkins still alive and is the REAL voice of all the stylistics song we all know, how can eban feel right impersonating some one who is still alive...I would never want to make money off singing like some one who is still around...
Harold Eban Brown is definitely not impersonating anyone. His style is his own.
100% agreed! Moreover, Russell Thompkins chose to leave the group. That's not Eban's fault, and the group needed a replacement. God provided!
You must be a Johnny-come-lately-fan. Russell Thompkins was great in-his-day, but as all singers get older, that voice is fading. Also Thompkin has never had the persona nor the charisma that Eban Brown brings to the stage. I've seen both Groups over the years, and in comparison ... Thompkin's so-called New Stylistics can just back out of the game because they are boring as all get-out! Eban Brown's Stylistics really know how to not only capture your attention, but also keep you actively involved throughout the entire Show. Sorry, but Thompkin had his chances, and it's been proven that nobody feels compelled to kiss his butt. He is definitely Not needed with this group!
Stylistics Blue Magic,he's doing a job although Russell the main voice isn't with them, the two orig; lead members are there to instruct and guide him, our good Russell Tompkins jr voice isn't that great anymore.
@@ann-marieclarke1191 RTJ's voice sounds really good to me.
The Stylistics?? Hardly ...they are a good cover group. The Stylistics start with Mr. Russell Tompkins Jr. .
Thanks so Much
why did Russel left?
Are you kidding me how you gonna say that you sound like the record and when the people come and see your show and they hear exactly what they're heard on the record, are you Kidding me. you all weren't on the records. As usual y'all a bunch of Liars
Dreadful. Rusell Tompkins is the lead singer. These guys should be ashamed of themselves.
thanks for watching
