Can you use this function for people counting and not only for alarm? I have a regular 4MP camera in my office, on a iDS 7208HQHI-K1/S DVR and i'd like to somehow count people when the line from the door is crossed, so i can know how many people are in the office (give or take, i don't mind if the number is 100% right).

I think the people counting function not support your DVR, Currently IP camera with NVR only having this counting option. If available you can try..
