Yes compare them to something new and at the same level like the Bose QC. I bought the Sonos but I am curious if I should return them and buy the Bose QC since I spend most of time on planes because of my job. Thanks
@@pwerboost- I have the Bose QC Ultra, they are very comfortable and sounds Dope!! Especially with the sub bass!!

The ANC, transparency mode and call quality is still one of the best!!
The hard case and the zipper is much better!!
But I think the most important factor is the Bose folds up with great ANC unlike, Sony, Sonos, APM, Momentum 4, etc.
Made a huge difference for me when I travel whether on a plane, train, etc...
i personaly have the xm5 earbuds and headphones and i am very happy with both of them

What? Ace is better?
The noise meter as well as the audio samples seem to clearly indicate that the Sony ANC is better.
It’s just more constant whereas XM5 tends to switch. Both are very close

Confused by your conclusion. The recording clearly shows the XM5's ANC seems to be more effective here across the frequency spectrum. There's especially a ton of low-mids still left in the Sonos recording. Did the samples get mixed up?
If not, and it's still in question... run the recordings through a spectrum analyzer, it will show the XM5 quieter across the board the whole time. What do you think could explain your opposite subjective impression? Genuine question.

It is subjective. I've had the XM5s and got a sore point on top of my head about 10 minutes of wearing them. I personally find the Ace more comfortable.

For whatever reason, your judgement never seems to reflect what I hear in the video. I wonder if it’s my ears, or my audio setup. In the start of that video the NC of the XM5 seems to obviously cut out more noise to my ears.
Yup, the XM5 is cutting more low frequency rumble in the recordings. But the Sonos cuts more of the audible upper bass and mids, that’s why it sounded quieter for me irl. And it’s constant.

The few times I have flown while wearing the XM5 everything was quiet; it was a surreal experience not hearing any plane sounds. In fact my mom, sitting next to me, would get annoyed as I apparently didn't hear her when she needed to use the restroom and I was in her way.
Fully agree! This is not the first time I feel confused in Aaron's vides where he claims Sony ANC or microphone is worse where it's clearly better. Unfortunately, I can't see these tests as reliable any more, especially when the conclusions often contradict with my own experience.

From what i could hear from your recording, the xm5 is quieter! Sonos is definitely less quiet than xm5. It is very clear on the comparison, how can you say the opposite?? Maybe the device you used to record the anc didn't capture it well or i don't know, but the xm5 definitely has quieter than ace.
XM5 cuts more low frequency rumble, but that is felt more than heard. What the Sonos cuts more is upper bass and midrange so less residual engine and crying baby noises. That's also why its pitch is lower even though the decibel meter measures about the same.
Thanks for conducting the screaming kids test. Now I'm seriously considering paying the Sonos Ace premium 😄
