But now I feel ashamed for my country even more, because not only did Germany have a terrible song themselves, the TV voters only gave 7 points to italy and only 4 to Ukraine

Thanks for the beautiful reaction! Shum is an oldest God of the forest in antient Ukraine and also slavic. At the same time this is a name of ritual dance to call spring
Oh, ok. Even though I googled the translation of the lyrics, the meaning behind the lyrics was still unknown for me!
In Greece we also have a kind of pre-Christian rituals and customs that go back to the Greek Paganism. Even though that today we do not believe in spirits of nature we have kept those rituals without the religious part.
Every winter we gather in our villages and dancing. We are making great noises with the instruments and with our traditional dances and by that we believe that we can awaken the nature! They spill wine on the Earth and many more!

Людей там дуже мало, цю пісню, ці слова записали з вуст жительки тієї місцевості, яка вибрала не виїжджати з тридцятикілометрової зони. Скоро вмруть всі ті, хто зараз там проживає, це переважно люди старшого віку, а пісні того краю залишаться жити, бо душа народу, його голос, древні звичаї, обряди, вірування невразливі до радіації.
hi her singing technique is called a white voice which comes from slavic countries of eastern europe, their dancing also isn't random- its the dancing connected to the ritual they are singing about

This song is the cover tj 1000 y.o. folk pre-Christiang spring song/ The meaning is to call for the joy of life after the cold and dark and hunger time of the winter. The Shum is the spirit of the Forest)))
This songs is based on a traditional springtime ritual from Chornobyl Polissia (Northern Ukraine) region, which was heavily affected by the
Chornobyl disaster. In the video. you could see a Chornobyl sarcophagus/ dome in the background. This year we marked 35th anniversary since the
disaster. In my view, this music piece was inspired and dedicated to the people who lived there. After the explosion, they were evacuated and
spread out all over the country. Therefore, the language variant that they spoke, their traditions, their vocal manner, cultural artifacts are
mainly lost. In a way, with this song Go_A pays tribute to the lost culture... This is how I feel about this music piece

Quest'anno l'Italia e l'Ucraina sono in perfetta sintonia anche per la palese simpatia reciproca tra i rappresentanti dei due Paesi e per il voto massimo dato reciprocamente.
Per pura coincidenza , Shum e Zitti e buoni sono eseguite nella stessa identica tonalità 😀🇺🇦🇮🇹❤️ per questo hanno fatto anche dei mashup dei due pezzi. I vocalist sembrano la versione maschile e femminile della stessa persona 😄
Io da un'ucraina , che da molti anni vive in Italia non posso che essere felice di questa fratellanza! 💞

Thanks for your reaction, it was so sincere :) They were 2nd in televote and 5th overall cause jury had some agenda of their own... The song is a variation of an ancient folk song that summons the spring, so the seeds can be sown and the plants will grow and the life will continue. You can see all the symbols of the sun and awakening and new beginning behind them.
This year was a massacre for what it come to the jury.
The more the song was innovative or outside the normal pop/dance/solo singer the more it was disdained.
Shum/Blind Channel/Maneskin but also Rapp went saved by popular vote. Go_A have the merit of making an high cultured proposal in an absolutely modern fashion, public recognized it while "quality" juries failed it completely.
Luckily, the genre liked by juries went overcrowded (they have made a meme about all Divas wearing the same clothes) and erased one with other, sorry for Serbia (NOT, i'm of Croatian origin) that being the only original between them get massacred also...

3:08 its not rice :D its about sowing seeds in spring, but it would be more like wheat or rye in ukraine i guess rather than rice :D though i dont know for sure as i am lithuanian, but definitely not rice as its not china or japan :D

They did something like that with a song called Tu Vo Fa l'americano a few years ago. I wasn't a great fan, but they were playing it everywhere all the time... I guess it worked. Personally, I would send Sabrina to represent Italy year in and year out, I believe she'd win every time :-) Best music that ever came out if Italy
