- In this lecture Dr. Duncan outlines the vital importance of Covenant Theology and how it harmonizes and unifies all of Scripture from the Old and the New Testaments. He talks about how Covenant Theology relates to the atonement, assurance, the Christian life and other vital doctrines of biblical Christianity.
He also points out that Covenant Theology wasn't simply invited with Calvin and the Puritans but finds its origins in the early church.

Thank you for this beautiful presentation. The foundation of the faith which I profess is covenant theology.
Glory To GOD!!!
Thank you for sharing!
Can someone please link me to an exegetical explanation of covenant theology?
I want scripture.
Look at RC Sproul he is the best!
Both Covenant Theology and Dispensationalism seem to be systems of human construct in the imperfect attempt to understand God's way better. A such, these are just man-made theories or interpretations with plenty of their own fallacies and pitfalls, not to mention how convoluted they are for the average believers. These systems, in their attempt to make sense of the Bible, are not unlike the Mishnah and the Gemara's attempt to clarify what's been written.
So, instead of solving some problems, they inadvertently created more, if not even more serious errors! These theories also have a life of their own, as they further splinter into sub-theories, with each more bizarre than the next. I just prefer reading the Bible on its own, as He speaks to me.
@@Birdylockso what a baseless assertion you’ve made. You speak as one who knows the matter, but all you’ve done is show your ignorance.

I have a PhD in Church History. Let's argue the matter in a civil way, if you are prepared to.
So who does Dr. Duncan believe "HIS people" are?
I call myself " a Covenanter" but I know fully from Scripture who and why.
Does he have a firm Scriptural basis for who he believes them to be?
can anyone connect a covenant to a testament....give a definition of what is the same, and what is different....or how they relate....
The thing that makes this hard is Christian liberty. There definitely are definite things that are different that we don't need a sacrifice animals anymore because of the lamb. There is Lord supper to communion with God and commerating in the sacrifice of Lord Jesus Christ instead of Passover. Definitely knowing that old testament commands carry over because of Jesus mentioning it and expounding on it. There is a debate about baptism and how it relates in the new covenant. They relate to one another about being one plan through covenants with God. And now being part of the grave covenant. I hope this helps in any way. It can be confusing and I'm not 100% sure my self. But much love to you brother.
Why does he use the word "Christian" in relation to the covenants?
I don't know if you could even call that an introduction
That was 39 minutes of just north of nothing
just read your biblend compare scripture with scripture
why all of this commentary....how about teaching the basics, of this subject....and leave the infighting to someone who can actually evaluate their writtings...
Because history matters.
I thought he's going to let bible explains the bible to support his views instead he is throwing out all the past centuries men and their views and also showing off that he is also a PhD that's all. All these past century men whoever they are are nothing comparing to the word of God. At least they can't explain how the world can see the dead bodies of the two witnesses in Revelation but we can. They are just men.
Any fool can rattles off bible verses or passages, look at the cults. He was setting the ground work. History matters. Context matters.
The more I study Covenant Theology and it's ramifications, fruit and proponents, I perceive it to be less and less biblical. It's as bad as Dispensationalism in it's presuppositions. IT would seem to me that Calvin, Zwingli and even Luther, drew on Augustine and Aquinas, rather than the Bible. I find no "Covenant of Works" or yet "Covenant of Grace" specifically referred to in the whole of the Bible.
Wow! You really like to COMPLICATE things.😵 The Bible says believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. The Word of God is all we need. Thank goodness.
Theologians have nothing to do, except to come up with convoluted way to explain something obvious. In their effort to "clarify" things, they further muddle the waters. So glad the Apostle Peter and John were just "unschooled, ordinary men."
The only thing this guy can prove is his ignorance.
His ignorance on what?
Your ignorance of hate and lies...
you got twisted like a pretzel You liar...
I'm lost... who's being called who?
Your comment in itself is ignorant.
So tired of you suits
