So glad you decided to watch more Weller! Thank you! Any Jam or TSC or even solo work by Weller is work a look!
In the last few months I've become a huge fan of Paul's solo career. I'd always known about him but never checked out his albums. I now own his whole discography and more.
Paulo Weller é top demais ❤️
A song of hope and joy ,only you can make a difference
Wow! I might have been in the audience for this gig! I've never seen this clip before - it brings back some great memories. Weller was playing a week-long residency at London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall 13 years ago this month and according to the setlist sit e, he played 'Shout To The Top' each night. We went on the opening night, just missing Weller's first and only on-stage reunion with Bruce Foxton (The Jam bassist) the following night! It was a fantastic gig though. He has a really tight live / studio band who are incredibly tight and also very talented musicians in their own right. Check out the original Style Council studio version of this track from the 1980s, much slicker, jazzier, which I think you'd enjoy.
I love this song! What a great performance.
It took me a few years to find Style Council, after listening to The Jam for so long, then I warmed to the material a LOT. Weller's a genius.
I would suggest Weller’s 1995 record Stanley Road for a full album reaction.
'Stanley Road' is a fantastic album. I think its predecessor 'Wild Wood' is the stronger of the two, but they're both fantastic albums.
See now I’d go for Above the Clouds, then Wild Wood, then Stanley Road. However all of them are great listens!
Paul Weller is a great, GREAT songwriter! And what a band!!!
Paul weller is one of those musicians who’s voice got better with age
10/10
Great pop tune.
Fantastic Weller/style Council classic. Would love you to get into his solo work he started in the 90s.
A great choice my man.
I agree that it’s always a good time to listen to Paul Weller! This is a Style Council song. I was heavy heavy into Style Council and then Paul’s solo work for many many years. As you can see he’s fantastic live, which I’ve been lucky to experience a few times. Sadly I just missed catching by a few days one of Style Council’s last shows in London before they disbanded. Paul does always sprinkle in a few Jam and SC songs into his shows though.
The difference between Paul Weller and other musicians is he Means it
The original The Style Council version is better, i think...but i only write this to say that your Kiki's Delivery Service's t-shirt is so cool
The Style Council - such a good time in Weller’s career.
Seems like this was around 2010 or so?
LOVE style council paul weller! the jam weller gets all the respect & kudos but i always preferred the council and his solo work lol.
my favourite is "walls come tumbling down" and loved his self-titled 1st solo album from '92 - give those a listen! ❤
The Modfather!
I'm not sure what year that was,90s,00s? The original version was by The Style Council in 1984,which I prefer to this personally. I would say it's an OK version, no more. Also, for me, Weller's vocals were already starting to feel strained. Would be nice if you moved on the next Jam album Setting Sons.
It was May 2010 during a week-long residence at the Albert Hall, maybe on the night I went. Fantastic gig. Agree re 'Setting Sons' - not missing out the two great non-album singles released earlier that year, 'Strange Town' and 'When We're Young'.
@@jeremyb5640 Thanks for that. Much later than I thought.
Excellent live version - faster ! Passionate! The Style Council's "My Ever Changing Moods" filled me with teenage angsty JOY too.
Manic Street Preachers ' "A Design for Life " must be on yer list by now JP?
Now who else haven't u caught on to as yet?
The Triffids "Born Sandy Devotional 1985 classic LP
The Housemartins first single "Flag Day"
Fatima Mansions' "Only Losers Take The Bus"
So many indeed. So many ARTists
Super Furry Animals "Juxtaposed With U "
oh and there's no need for u to do Aerosmith or Van Halen's early LPs from my point of view anymore.
Reverse Psychology Anyone?
Great PW selection here JP, hadn't watched it before. On top of their game here,4 sure. He's been at it so long the baton was dropped occasionally.... Not here though. 22 Dreams is a great later solo LP too.
Now check out The Bitterest Pill, or Beat Surrender...
Nice bouncy pop, with great dynamic's. I believe the string section was hired a as much for their topography, as their talent! Peace & Love.
Can't get enough Weller. Do his albums dude. Damn his Tour Coordinator though...... nowhere near me again!
I was never too fussed on his solo, other, non Jam stuff. This foray into poppy, souly swag left me a little cold. Not my C of T.
@@CAdams6398 This was very true to the original I thought. But as i say, his non Jam stuff i never really took to.
Although I much prefer the original Style Council studio track (when Paul and I were both much younger), it's always nice to hear Paul Weller. I presume the reason you never came back to Style Council was because of label/copyright issues. So you gotta do what you can. Much appreciated.
Brilliant. One of the better Style Council songs
That was OK, but right now I'm more inclined to be *Joining a Fan Club* czcams.com/video/4KnnOeEW_e8/video.html (maybe because it's more Queenly and XTC-tatic to my perceptrons).
The jam was a better band, but the Style Council was a better outlet for Paul Weller’s showmanship. He’s much more believable as a Sophisti-pop guy than a post-punk guy.
As a Jam fanatic who say them live, I never liked the Style Council and stil don't. The Weller we loved came back in 2010 with "Wake Up The Nation". Foxton plays bass on a few tracks!
