Powerful buck converter 10A 40V

  • This is a simple but powerful buck converter, it uses IC XL4016. This IC has a maximum voltage of 40V, a current of 8A. I have added the LM358 opam and the shunt resistor. It helps limit the output current. In this video you can see the maximum current is 6A, because my power supply has a maximum of 100W. If you use a transformer or battery, the maximum current is 10A.

    Does buck convertors reduce amprage? How much will it reduce if you go from 12v to 19v

    the datasheet of XL4016 says up to 8a max. how this circuit can provide 10amps? also some components have different values in video than those in schematics.which are the correct ones?

    Hello, you schematic under the video looks different to what you build. The big 470uF Capacitor in your Video is in the schematic a 2200uF capacitor. There are more mistakes like this one with other capacitors. Should I buld after your Video, or after the schematic? Was that intentional or only a mistake?

    Very good project. I would like to know what is the voltage range at the input so that the output has a maximum of 40v and 10 amps, I understand that at the input I must have 10 amps or more, but my question is with the volts at the input, I want to use a computer power supply, but I would like to know if by putting 12 volts I can always get the 40v output, so I would like to know the range of volts at the input.

      It's not that difficult, but you need a mosfet P. you can use IRF9540

      2SC5200 it's a bipolar transistor!! dc-dc converters are more efficient using mosfets!!!!

    Very gd circuit, but u hv used a very unconventional ic here which isn't freely available anywhere. I would suggest the use of a good freely available ic like tl494 or L4960 or something similar. Gr8 effort however. Thank you.
