  • The ever goofy Green Cheek Conure during their naughtier moments. Still wonderfully cute. Parrots, when given time and are comfortable in their environments, are like little kids; needy for attention, capable of having tantrums, and have moments of hyper activity. They can also be very loving and sensitive.
Green cheek conures are known for their "bossy" side and may be nippy or territorial at times no matter how much they love you. As long as their human family members understand this and learn how to work with it- or around it- the bird will be a happy, thriving friend. Working with such intelligent and sensitive beings takes understanding, patience, and willingness to learn from a bird's very unique perspective.
The star of this silly show is Birdy, aka "Puffel Head", a cherished member of our family.

My green cheeked conure bobs her head when she dances and move her side to side to play! She also loves pens (we take out the ink and crap)

Hi. I have one green cheek conure also. I just wanted to know if u have clipped her wings? If so how much have u clipped off?
Mine flies around but it seems she gets scared bc after flying, she kinda shakes. So I want to clip her wings, but we are just to scared because she wont let us even touch them. Also don't want to hurt her also.

Hi Tahira, You have excellent questions and I'm glad you asked. The pet shop clipped the flight feathers of "Birdie" so in many of my bird videos you'll see them squared off. (I get plenty of angry comments about Birdie's clipped feathers even though I didn't even do that! Crazy I know.) When the feathers grew back, Birdie flew into the ocean, twice, so I had a lady who knew what she was doing at a nearby pet store trim those flight feathers again. She basically trimmed the blue feathers, but not too close to the root. Veterinarians I believe can trim wing feathers too and will know how to avoid blood feathers (new ones coming in that can bleed if cut too close).
I've seen too many pet birds lost to hawks, drowned in toilets, burned on stoves, and in my case- nearly drowning in the ocean, to not have their flight feathers trimmed. It depends on where the bird is kept and not all of us have these perfect aviaries where we can provide perfect flying safety of our beloved birds. Talk to your nearest vet or pet shop and see if they provide wing feather clipping service. There are also illustrations online on where and how to trim the wing feathers. Hope this helps, you are a dear for caring about you little feathered friend.

+smokin Dauberdoo420 Yes indeed! The coloring book project's artwork is in the finishing stages. Though most people who signed up didn't go through the Indiegogo site (was hoping they would!), I still have a large pile of unique requests for portraits in memory of pets and people, so the book's content is looking good. When I get a better idea of the publication date, will post it on the blog www.riseofcourage.com Thanks for asking:-)
