Fix does not help.. seems like sick tool but chunks of my videos refuse to go online... this offline bug blows. Any help? Videos are found just one most is online and other is over half offline.

@@saleemck0623 I changed what I recorded with and that fixed my issue , for gaming I went from FBX to OBX
Before trying to relink the clips, first select unlink all clips. Then select Relink clips and go to the exact folder where the clips should be and that worked for me. ;)
Yes thats one solution but in my long experience with Resolve.. its usually just only few clips that are offline and the ReLink option doesn't always work! If this is the case for you try deleting your cache and move your playhead to the very start of the project. Wait until the timeline shows that the clips have been rendered then press play. Play through the clips that were previously offline first before continuing to edit. Still not working? Then DELETE ALL CACHE if you hadn't done already.. sometimes it take a couple of tries for the cache to be cleared properly!

i have quite a weird problem. I have two videos with the same framerate, same quality even the same media type (mp4) saved at the exact same location. One works (the shorter clip) one does not, it says media offline but it playbacks the sound. So it finds the file but it doesn't want to work properly.
I could make a short video of the problem and upload it on my channel if you could help me, thanks
It sounds like the codec might be the issue. Is one h.264 and one h.265?

Also have to go to the pain of relinking proxy files. The whole things is an arduous task if your files are neatly organized into different bins. Why does this happen for no apparent reason in the first place?
Just select the disk the files are on. DaVinci will do the rest!

Went through everything I could find to try to solve it and nothing worked. Eventually I tried to open the files and watch my clips and turns out they were corrupted so if anyone else is having the same issue of nothing seeming to work it could be that :(

Further to my comment below: I get the Media Offline error only for videos shot on Google Pixel 3 or Google Pixel 7 Pro. Why is that? And no matter what I do, the matter does not get resolved. All other videos load up just fine. From my Samsung is no problem. Just these two phones. And if I open them in another video editor and export them again as mp4s, the matter gets resolved. But directly from my Pixels is a problem. Any thoughts?
Your phone probably shoots in a format that isn't recognized by DaVinci. Try and see if you can change the settings in your phone so that the format will change. I had that before as well but fixed it that way.
@@RicoResolves You are absolutely right, except that I don't know what settings to change, since it is shooting in the standard mp4 format.
I shot a video using the free app Open Camera on the same phone and that worked just fine. So there must be something in the phone's native camera app that is causing this problem. But at least now I have a temporary workaround.

I have a Pixel as well (7) and just checked. I'm pretty convinced I know what is wrong. Please go to the settings and look for the: "saving videos efficiently" (or something resembling that) setting. You'll see that it saves the files in h.265/HEVC codec to save space. I haven't tried uploading my videos into Resolve yet, but I'm pretty sure I would get the same issues. The reason I know this is because I had the same thing happen to me with drone files before. Please uncheck it, so that the files are being saved in H.264 files. Record a video, upload it in DaVinci and let me know if that RESOLVED your issue :)!
@@RicoResolves Yup. It worked. Thank you so much for saving the day. I tweaked the settings on both my Phones (Pixel 3 and Pixel 7 Pro) and now everything works normally. Phew! That was scary. Now, I want to learn DR systematically. Of course I will be watching most of your videos on DR, but is there any way I can learn it from scratch? I am 70+ and don't want to go into great detail. You can change the other videos that have already been shot in h.265 to h.264 with Handbrake. An open source video program. I believe I have a DaVinci beginner video on my channel too, let me know if that helps.

I've got a strange question, I want to render a file and have it still be readable in davinci resolve. When I render a video and bring it back into davinci resolve's media pool, it says media offline. Is there any way to export such that this won't happen and I can bring it back into davinci? Maybe a specific setting on the render page like using a specific format or something?
Hi, thank you for your question. What format do you use to export in the first place? Let's go from there.

Check the codec, is it h.265? DaVinci can't handle that. You need Handbrake to convert them to H.264 (or export them in H.264 in DaVinci)!

If that doesn’t work. Attempt to relink your clips, go to file at the top left corner of the screen, select “save as” and then select ok. Your clips should be restored afterwards.

my recordings are in a folder called "videos" and when i select it or search through it, it just says "2 videos could not be found" like bro they are right THERE!!
Select them manual, what happens then?

I have a slightly different version of the problem. It doesn't show immediately that the media is offline. The video plays but it flashes very quickly the media offline message at random points. If I play this video using other software, there is no error at all. Relinking doesn't help with this variant of the problem. Rerecording the video doesn't help either, so it's not a corrupt file. The rest of the project's media seems to not have this problem. It's just one clip and replacing that one clip with a totally different file still doesn't work.
What is the codec of the video?
@@RicoResolvesIt was H.264 MKV, but all the other videos in the project were too, and they worked. I finally got it fixed by switching to MP4, but it shouldn't have been necessary because the other videos were not MP4.

There is no relink selected clips? Where is it? I right clicked and it wasnt there?
Right click on the folder or video and you'll have the ability to do so

How to do it, in situation, that timeline was imported from Premiere, and media not in the media pool?
Create a new timeline
Alright, but for me its only parts of the footage that is offline, for example i am working on a compilation of moments from a game, but only a couple frames are "offline" of each clip. So not all of the clips are 100 percent offfline, but its just some frames that flash the message. Have you heard of such issue? and if yes please say if you have a solution to this problem.
Also, i have noticed that 50 percent of the transitions and effects i have used have the ssame media offline screen, but the weird thing is that its only some off the transitions, not all of them
Try relinking all the clips, by selecting the drive rather than the folder. See if they pop up. Otherwise, try my video in the pinned comment

When I access the media file through my regular D drive it is there. I drag and drop it into the Media Pool, but I get Media offline. When I try this troubleshoot, Relink selected clip > go to D drive and folder > the files have disappeared! Any help much appreciated thanks.
You probably have a wrong codec. Check the video that's in the pinned comment

Nope. Didn't work for me. I am getting this error as soon as I drag and drop my files into DaVinci Resolve. It's not like I have moved the files or renamed the files. I've just shot the videos yesterday so files being corrupted is not a possibility. They work very well in other video editing programs.

I recorded a video in Tiktok Studio and saved it, when I pull it in to Da Vinci it does this media offline and it won't go away
What's the code/container that you use? So in exampl, h.265, MP4 etc?

I can't add to the media to the pool. Media on my local hard drive is listed as "Media Offline."
Does your hard drive have a password? Make sure you enter that first, to be able to view it (most WD disks have one for instance).
After more research, I think it has to do with the MP4 encoding of the source media.

For real...I dragged the files into DV18 from the folder and it doesn't know where they are? What sort of nonsense is this?
Try the steps of this video. If you change the location of the files, you get the media offline error.

Because it isn't working for my files, and I would take it, it isn't working for a ton of people...
My DJI files are good as gold and all editors but this one sees and works with them just fine....
WHY ???? is there a dumb restriction like this on an editor?

@TroyC68 here's the answer: it's the codec. Change it from H.265 to h.264 using a program like Handbrake. I'll make a video about this!
