    I never do all that to cut. If i need to cut one clip, I select it and hit control B then hit backspace to remove the unwanted area or delete if I want it to slide into position. If I want to cut all clips from top to bottom on that section then I will just hit control \ and that’s it. Everything else is unnecessary. Backspace and delete gives you the two methods you need, no need to right click and all of that.

      Agreed, in my workflow the number of times I want to ripple cut is very very limited - it normally results in a jumpy video that is too obviously edited. I use Ctrl-\ to cut and then generally I want to put something else inbetween so I'm happy to leave a gap where the removed section was.

    Thanks for the video. Honestly the fastest way for me is using the default ctl B and delete method. Specially because davinci will automatically highlight what's before the cut. That's an additional step automatically done for you. Once you factor it in you're flow and choose you're cut points in a systematic manner. It speeds up the cutting process significantly even when you have multiple tracks in your timeline.

When I set the keyboard like you did, it makes the "End to Playhead" to work only in the "cut" mode of DR 18.0.2 but not in the "edit", same with the "razor" it works only in the "cut" window. Now the "Start to playhead" is not working anywhere not in the "cut" and not in the "Edit" window. It would be great if you would have a advice for me.

    @toth1982 Před rokem +1

    I did the same previously. I have mapped F1 to Razor and F2 to "start to playhed".
    But now I went back to blade. Why? It is more convenient.
    My biggest problem is that if something is selected, F2, or "start to playhead" does not work. So sometimes something is selected, sometimes it is not. You never know.
    The second problem is that blade tool is more visible. It has a smaller line and you will cut where your mouse is. You can do more precise work with it.
    If you want to do the same with the playhead, you have to adjust its position above your clips on the "ruler", not on your clips. That is usually far away, so it is harder to be precise.
    Also, with keyboard shortcuts you can use blade fast as well:
    B, cut, cut, A, select with click, del.

I think the keyboard shortcut for cutting was like the backslash \ or ctrl+B or something and then there were 2 other shortcuts that were like ctrl+shift+[ (left bracket) and ctrl+shift+] (right bracket). I'm a little hazy on if those are the exact shortcuts, but they should be something like that for what I was thinking.

    I do not like keyboard shortcuts. True, If you are a heavy user of Resolve (or any other complicated program) and seldom use other programs, shortcuts are areal time saver. But, in my case, I'm more of a casual user of several types of programs ( 2D cad, 3D cad, drawing, photo editing, data bases, spreadsheets, video editing etc.) there is no way I could remember more than a few shortcuts. Even then I find myself using a shortcut from 1 program in a wrong program. Perhaps I'm just dumb and in the minority in this regard. But I'm sure many will find this video of real value. Thank you for taking the time to post it.

    Cool stuff, always great to learn. I probably won't use these a lot as Razor is B and ripple cut is Delete but my workflow doesn't really require me to use the features you've highlighted in this video. Still cool though!

    this is exactly what I've been looking for! It's so frustrating that I can't just right click and have a tool to select to "cut" a track or video into two pieces.

    Can this be done without actually removing any audio?
