    I love how you explain everything. It saves me asking too many questions. :) The drone is also a very good addition and the music adds to the experience instead of distracting me from it. Of course the Norwegian countryside is lovely as always. I am definitely a fan. Waiting for the next addition. Thank you!

    Greetings from British Columbia, Canada. Thank you for an interesting video. The explanation of the signs, and your tour guide style are very welcome. I am a rail fan, but I don’t know all the technical stuff.

      Hi Kelly, and thx for commenting! Glad you liked it. I have not seen many video's that explain our signs and rules so i thought that might be interesting. I like Canada alot and hope to visit one day. I had a plane diverted to Montreal once, but that's it :P I also liked your channel! I love cruise and i got a friend who is into quilting. So I had her make me quite a few custom quilting projects, like food processor cover and such :D

    Gotta love that EMD 645 diesel engine! It is really a popular engine as it powers a lot of locomotives here in the U.S. I assume that the generator and traction motors are made by Philips. Thanks for the very informative video! Can't wait until the next installment!

      Thx again for commenting Swarf! I know little about the engine. But it's never broken down to my knowledge. The cooling system we had some trouble with tho. Cooling fan burned up (they are also hydraulic powered) and a hose for cooling liquid burst a couple of times.

    Since Norway is almost entirely powered by Hydroelectric dams, I assume none of these timber materials are destined from Biomass power generation in Norway. How much of the materials are being used in Norway? Are they being used for construction or pulp/paper domestically? For the materials being exported to Sweden, are most of them destined for biomass fuel or other things like pulp/paper mills or building materials and insulation?

    • @thenorwegiantraindriver4788
      @thenorwegiantraindriver4788  Před 2 lety

      Hi Sorbe. I think we have only one paper factory left in Norway now. In Halden. We don't transport there tho. We transport all our timber to Skoghall and Grums in Sweden. Both for cardbord/paper. We also transport woodchips to Stockholm for central heating during the winter months. There are also other companies that transport timber in Norway. What they use it for i don't know.

    Another excellent video with wonderful drone footage at the start. I was wondering if that Cargo Net train of empty log wagons that came into Kongsvinger while you were doing the drone work were the cars that would make up your train north?

    • @thenorwegiantraindriver4788
      @thenorwegiantraindriver4788  Před 3 lety +3

      Hi Don and thx for asking. On Solørbanen we haul 26 wagons, cause its fairly flat. But on other lines we haul less. Like to Lillehammer where its a long hill at 16 per mille we can have a maximum of 14 wagons.

    I live in Heradsbygd beside the Solørbanen, and It's always a pleasure to listen to the old 2 stroke engines in the TMZ and TMY locomotives :) How many TMZ locos do Hector rail use these day's? The Vossloh's was out of use for several years, and then there was primarly the old danish TMZ locos that roared past :)

    Do I interpret the information correctly on the locomotive you are driving in that it is a Diesel Hydraulic? Sadly these were phased out many years ago in England (much to my personal regret!) How does it compare to the other types you drive?

    • @thenorwegiantraindriver4788
      @thenorwegiantraindriver4788  Před 3 lety +3

      Hi Andy and thx for your comment again. Yes it's Diesel hydraulic (i forgot to inform about that, sry). The cabin is fantastic. And it got big side windows! It's not so fantastic if the rails are slippery. If one wheel/axel spin they all spin. Thats the biggest downside. The compressor is not so good either. If you apply breaks more then two times you kinda get stuck for a couple of min. And the retarder is removed cause it had so much problems.
