I think there's a bit of a loophole on the timing question. Friends can talk about their 'ideal scenarios' without it being professional. 'If it were me, I'd want a good cash deal, a commitment to facilities and free reign to run my program at one of the top programs'. 'My ideal baseball coach would be a guy who can talk to our donors, align with our department and commit to running a world class program.' You can cover pretty much everything theoretically and then close in 12 hours on an actual professional inquiry easily.

Well that’s not how it works. Coaches just like anyone else want to be in the best position they can where ever that may be. Coaches have loyalty to people when it comes down to it. Chris and Schloss used to walk the 3 mile loop around TCU every morning. They were homies at the end of the day. Liucci knows Aggie football will never win it all. Baseball was the only hope for Championship relevancy. It was personal. Schloss going to Austin was going to cost TexAgs money and prestige. Interesting to compare the reactions between Nebraska / Trev separation and Schloss going to Texas. Nebraska was also crushed but had class.
