A few more fun quality-of-life features of keyboard focus mode: you can enter keyboard focus mode by clicking anywhere in the input box where the letters go. You can also exit from keyboard focus mode by clicking anywhere else on the screen. These two things make it a bit easier that trying to hit the icon, which is necessarily a bit on the small side.
That works for me, certainly clicking on the icon doesn’t. Thanks

Hey Kip, do you think you could a tutorial on the Working Title G3X? I believe it's only used in a couple planes but it may be a decent video topic.
I really like the new NXi. However I had to remove it until the next version to a complete freeze of the sim when it switches to approach mode (no CTD, just freezes up). I know the WT folks will have a fix out soon because, well they're WT. ;)

Thanks for video, I have had problems with my Logitech panels since I updated my G1000 NXi update 0.2.0 the panels are locking up, I have tried restarts but still the same, everything was working perfect until that update.

Is there anyway to make the numbers and text bigger with this new G1000? I have a hard time seeing it compared to the default panels. Same thing with the G-3000 from Working Title. Lots of new cool features, but everything is a lot smaller.
Had trouble setting Track up the other day. The PDF always stated HDG Up even though the menu listed Track up.
Flying right seat in a cessna 182Q with civil air patrol....my pilot tried to be nice and turn up the brightness on my becker direction finder and turned a knob he thought did that....about 5 seconds later bothe the PFD and the MFD went black....I said "Turn that knob back will ya?".....if you flip a switch and don't like the results....flip the switch back :)
I loaded a flight plan from the world map but the rout heading was about 341 and the garmin was showing heading of about 220. deleted updat and used the old Garmin that worked fine.
this GPS model is much more cumbersome than the previous one! why cant the Garmin guys make it more easy to operate?? 😭😭
Hi Kip thanks for the great video's. I can't seem to access the nearest waypoints in the same manner like the regular G1000 version. Would you know how to access them in this new version of the NXI
Not yet, but they're adding new things in every update, so it's only a matter of time :-)
Kip, Can you pop out the NXI and move it to a separate panel? If the answer is yes does it also pop out the bezel as well? I'm curios if I can make it work with my Knobster.
Yes, you can hold the right ALT key (has to be the right-side one) and click the screen to pop it out, just like the vanilla G1000. It doesn't include the bezel, just the display.
Looks great but how stable is this thing? I have had one CTD since I started using msfs

I'd say it's stable, and if for some reason you end up disliking it or crashing due to it, it's easy to uninstall via the Content Manager within the sim. I think it's worth trying if you use the G1000 regularly. VNAV is amazing!
is it going to be possible to manually change the altitudes of procedures and STARs cuz sometimes altitudes are not accurate regarding the charts ?
Yes, eventually I think we can expect this capability since the real G1000 can do it :-) For now though, we're unfortunately stuck with the constraints are in the sim's navigation database. You could try using Navigraph's FMS Data replacement to help the issue for now, but it requires a paid subscription.
Are the map options fully available in 0.7? I don't find them...
So glad they made this available to xbox users too, would be great to see this same company do a G3000 upgrade for the TBM and for MSFS to get more planes with the G3K cockpit…
G3000 is already updated by them.
@@after_midnight9592 is it the default for the TBM 930 in the game or is it an add on to be downloaded? If the latter not showing up in my available downloads so not being offered to Xbox users…
@@KevsChronicles it's available for download on Working Title website. Its not on the marketplace like NXi.
@@KevsChronicles Yeah not available on the Marketplace yet. Have to download it online. Limitations of Xbox. Plan is for them to overhaul it the same way the NXi is being done, so you’ll probably be able to use it in a few months.

Kip, I just purchased and downloaded a new package for the C172 Skyhawk to get the G 1000 NXI for the first time. I was going to use it with your tutorials. I know sooner the airplane in the inventory and I added it to a flight to and from Sedona. Before I could even takeoff for a spin before trying to download it onto a separate screen boat screens went off. I shut down the program restarted it was OK until about 5 to 10 minutes and then both screens went off again. Am I doing something wrong or is it something that I forgot to do in the download, can you help thanks, ron in San Diego

The real problem with flight planning (In Real Life) is one should be able to put in a departure point and a destination and based on the aircrafts configuration and weather a if a VFR or IFR flight look up any prefered routes then looking at winds aloft along the route of flight plan pick intermediate stops and suitable alternates based weather & FOB.
That would be really cool. For now, we have SimBrief at least for our use in the sim :-) It does look up the weather at both airports for the route it suggests. Pretty cool stuff.
@@KipOnTheGround What would you use to get the winds at the destination airport to assist in selecting the runway to land (closest to upwind)?
Will the classic G1000 Working Title Mod keep getting updates?
They just made a small update to what they're now calling the "legacy" G1000 mod. I don't think they plan on making major updates to it, since the NXi will be the future default MSFS G1000.
How did you know which airways to set? Do you see airways on the map so you can see which one suits you?

For some reason when I highlight that Origin field to enter Origin/Destination and press the FMS knob it doesn't bring up the Waypoint Information screen but instead just rotates the map. Any idea why that might be?
Hey Josh, once you have the cursor turned on, turn the inner FMS knob to start entering the waypoint. Pressing the knob again will turn the cursor off.

So I’m stuck in heading up and I do not like it. I figured the fix was under menu map setting. But I have no blinking blue box. I can see the option. But I cannot select anything they are all grey
Try pressing the inner FMS knob to activate the cursor. It should be on by default when opening that menu, so maybe you have to do it manually right now.

It’s part of the new “lock” style “interaction model” that came with sim update 5. If you switched back to legacy mode, you don’t get the highlighting. You can change the setting in General options / accessibility / pilot interaction model.

OBS hasn't yet been functional on the NXi, but it'll likely be in the next update (0.6.0) as the WT team has posted a preview of OBS working on their Discord server :-)

cant get my plane to follow gps nav lately. anyone else got this issue?
If you got the latest update there’s new criteria for getting NAV mode to arm, you need to manually (or use HDG mode) to fly to the course first before NAV mode will activate.

Is this update for Xbox, PC or both?
I think both, but I don't know for sure since the MSFS team didn't include this in their weekly Marketplace update (where they mark whether it's PC, Xbox, or both). Maybe someone else in the comments with an Xbox can answer that though.

Yes, you can use VNAV/VPTH mode in autopilot if that's what you mean. You can't edit the VNAV altitudes in the flight plan yet, but it will load them in with the procedures you choose. Expecting that we can eventually edit those in a future version, though.

Since I installed the NXi, the sim freezes during ILS localiser phase of flight and I have to quit to desktop. Anyone else experienced this?

@@keithlillis7962 I tried to keep it at short as possible, bc I was under the bright sun making it hard for me to type properly. But back to ur problem, I don't face the same issue. Maybe try to verify game cache :) Hope u can solve the issue
We identified an issue when TOD is being calculated that can freeze the sim. Sorry.
Will be fixed with the next update hitting very soon.
