    Just a note: Don't use power tools they could break the glass. Also torque al 4 bolts & nuts to 97 inch-pounds.

    Looks good! Nice job, Dude. I have a 2000 Ford Explorer Sport, and am looking to doing a repair on it. Window is only connected on one end, so I am worried it might fall off going down the road. Thanks for video!

    And the glass does pop open separate from the tailgate. I believe that makes for an even easier replacement.

    Good video, will be replacing these hinges myself soon. FYI there's a flat black button up under where license plate lights are on right side I believe, if you push it will release the back glass vs always needing the key fob to do it. I have a 2008 Explorer so you may/may not have it but worth looking.

    • @FASBLAQUE
      @FASBLAQUE Před 3 lety

      I also have a 2008 Explorer. The rear defrost does not work at all. I was told that I have to replace the whole glass. What do you think?

    • @buffalobluecheese
      @buffalobluecheese Před 3 lety +3

      Several reasons why rear defrost not working, but glass replacement would be last resort. Typically the little grid lines break when cleaning the glass, can be repaired with kits available on the big marketplace websites. Could be a fuse, could be the tabs where defroster connects to top corners of rear window, one may have broken loose, kits are available to repair those made by Permatex. Just Google "2008 ford explorer rear window defrost not working" & you'll get a full page + of ideas & remedies. Good luck 👍

    Great job,
    I am well prepared for this little project. There's a kinda countersunk feeling button and the bottom of the chrome strip, poops that glass open. Just left of the license plate etched in the glass, it's says
    GLASS RELEASE ⬇️

    Any ideas on how to replace the secure latch at bottom of rear window? Mine fell off and I couldn't find any videos on u tube. I tried super glue, E 6000, defroster glue. After 50 bucks and 3 attempts,, I'm back to square one. Only advice i get is dealer.

      Mine was not labeled but you can tell by how the bracket looks. There is a slant on the left and right. I believe I described it in the video.

      @@MegnDave Thanks for the part link and the awesome video support!
      It’s been a few years so how have those metal parts survived?
      Also I cannot tell on Amazon site that the material is metal as it shows as glass? But confusing to say the least.
      I need to replace or fix one for a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport and it doesn’t say this will not fit but it does show me another product for the specific make and model: and same thing as your link it says glass but not metal or plastic:
      Thanks again for any updates on this issue as well because for many people just watching it would help even more to know how they have survived?

    • @makinworks
      @makinworks Před 2 lety

      Oh I think I found on both yours and the one for my 2001 but it still doesn’t say metal but indeed looks like the ones you showcased.
      They have a guarantee so it’s good that Amazon helps keep you from buying something that will NOT fit your make or model. But even so it’s best I thought to ask

    • @MegnDave

      Rear glass should line up. The hole is bigger than the threads on the screw by a good margin.
