Thanks man. Ford quoted me $250 just to remove the panel and replace the light. Just did it for $5.00 (lights) in 20 minutes.

Appreciate your video! Watched it and then installed the new mini bulb. Your video is spot on, and it does take a little finesse with turning the bulb socket to locked position when installing.....tight quarters. Nice to have the light back on.

I just used this video to replace mine today. I didn't even realize it was out until I saw your video and went out to check and it was out. Video was thorough and incredibly helpful to a novice. Successfully replaced the light bulb after a month without it.
Kept my laptop on the dash throughout the repair and referred to it multiple times. Listen to all the helpful hints that will avoid any other parts breaking in the repair process. Obviously an expert repairman! Since I plan to keep my 107,000 mile 2008 Explorer as long as possible, I subscribed to this channel.

Wow I really appreciate this, I had my 06 Eddie B edition shift light go out so I watched your video after fords quoted me $759.78 to repair the light so I took the light out of an 08 xlt explorer sitting in my pasture, again thank you! Saved me almost a thousand dollars !

The only thing I would recommend is not touch any bulb with bare fingers. The oil from your skin will cause hot spots on the bulb and shorten its life.
Use a paper towel, napkin, etc, or disposable gloves.

Wrong. 2721 is the model for specific brand. the Bulb specification and size is t5 or W2x4.6d. Simply search for T5 bulbs.

Just followed your video for my 2010 expedition. Your description is perfect. Got the bulbs from ford. Replaced them but unfortunately it’s still not lighting up. Do you think it’s a fuse? Everything else in the car works
It was the #10 fuse. 15 amp

Ok, the gray part above the console cover and below the black radio face, is that separate for the black part? i bought the same year and the left side of the area is messed up. I would like to take it off to repair it. 6:39 minutes

How do you upgrade halogen bulbs in the rear on 2007 Ford Expedition ?
To upgrade the taillight bulbs on your Ford Explorer, you should ba able to buy and replace them with LED bulbs. It should be a direct replacement.

I've been shifting my mountaineer without that light for years, lol! I'm just wondering if the same 2721 light bulb as an LED can fit up in there? Might be too big.
If it is around the same year it should be the same.

This video was very informative, I do have a question though. Do you think it would be possible if I were to tap into the wires for the bulb and power some led strips as footwell lights under the dash? This would allow the lights to come on when the vehicle is unlocked because I believe this bulb receives power when the doors are unlocked and when the car is on. It would be very helpful if you were able to help me out, thanks!

I have a 2007 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer I bought the 2721 and it is bigger than the one that was already in ? Is there a different size the 2721 doesn’t fit
Not sure, it's a pretty small bulb. The dealer might be able to tell you what it has.
Some people said a 74 is the correct size so I think Ford used two different sizes.
I have a 2010 ford edge the shift gear light sometimes turn on what can it be? Do I replace the bulb?
It might just be loose in there.
good nigth, change the bulb and it doesn't turn on with the new bulb
You may want to test the socket and the circuit to see if there is power going to the shift light indictor bulb socket. Also check the fuse on that circuit to see if it is good. Hope this helps you out.
How do you replace the instrument cluster light where it shows the speed odometer and rpm

Yo might have to gingerly grab it with something without breaking it. Maybe a pair of needle nose pliers.
Will this be the same for a 2010 ford taurus?
I am not 100% sure, but see if the brake lights are working intermittently. If they are you may have to replace the brake light switch.

But I bought my ford taurus and the light prndl indicator doesnt light up along with my steering wheel lights don't light up which I assume is just a fuse. I'm just trying to figure it out because there's no info/videos about this issue on my car anywhere
The prndl lights show up on my dashboard but it doesn't like where I switch gears in the middle compartment like your video

Watching this 6 months later after it was posted. All is well except actually turning the bulb and pulling it out. Very tight spot for my fingers. Is there a technique to it?
Not really ..it's just in a tight spot
Yes wedge a screw driver between the bulb while turning with your fingers and the screw driver at the same time, I had to do this technique not only to take out but get back in as well

I have the same problem BUT I replaced the bulb and the fuse and it still won’t come on 🙁
You may have to test the circuit to see where you are loosing power.

That is weird! Changed mine never looked back. I would buy another bulb and try replacing it again. Maybe you just received a bad light bulb.
Wow my hub on driver side going out again changed three years ago the other are fine as for the light found a bad connector
