I saw that that was funny to see Garcia still tap after the hold was broken
To me that is the tapping of quitting turning into the tapping of frustration over the loss.
Given his character, he's either tapping after the hold was let go due to frustration of losing, or more likely, tapping due to him being pissed off that punk held that hold a bit longer than it should.
Everything about this match was what AEW needs more of: believability, great execution, no run-ins, the referee upheld the rules and didn't get buried, it looked like a great competition, NOTHING hokey, contrived or silly! Thanks AEW!

@Mr Happy Folger please don't mistake what I mean...I'm not necessarily advocating for real fighting or shoot fighting. I believe wrestling gets it right when the performers can get an audience to suspend their disbelief that it's a pre-determined fight. We want to feel like maybe it could be real or that both guys are not just cooperating with each other. That takes legitimate talent and skill, which is what only the top guys can do. It's easy to revert back to silly sports entertainment stuff or garbage hardcore matches or matches that are completely scripted from start to finish....all that junk is so easy to see through and doesn't look believable. AEW is starting to turn the corner on it's main shows, which is so refreshing to witness.

It’s all that selling. Even after the show went off the air, Punk came out to join several others in the ring to share a few words, and even then he was STILL selling.
We all know wrestling is staged and choreographed to some degree or another, so it’s really nice when someone keeps it going to that extent to continue to help raise the suspension of disbelief.
That's what old famous wrestlers do.
He's pretty good to be fair. Punk ain't bad either.
That's why he's the best in the world. He's one of the few that can make a kid look like a million dollars

I really appreciate the fact that CM Punk is giving these young guys a rub. Sure he's undefeated but he's managed to elevate everyone he's worked with. Everybody that has lost to CM Punk in AEW up to this point has looked good going down in defeat to CM Punk whether it be Darby Allin, Powerhouse Hobbs or Daniel Garcia. That's the mark of a pro.

If you don't make someone like Punk look stronger than nobodies like Garcia, Punk starts looking weak, and a competitive match with him is devalued. Thats how they ruined Bray Wyatt twice. Obviously his case was more extreme than this, but Punk having trouble with Garcia might as well be a loss for him.

Punk is such a naturally gifted wrestler and you can tell he got a bit winded but he's getting better and better every single week and Garcia was a perfect opponent for him. Young and hungry to put in the performance, Garcia is a star in the making and Punk sees that.

@@funkymonk4586 Some people say that, but aren't actually watching or they'd notice that there's actually tons of guys that don't do that type of match. Cody, Jericho, Matt Hardy, Wardlow, Brian Cage, Thunderosa, Moxley, Adam Page, Britt Baker, Ricky Starks, Will Hobbs, Christian, MJF, FTR, Adam Cole, none of these people really wrestle that style, and the list goes on. Y'all just remember the highlights. I love the style Punk and Danielson are doing too, but don't pretend like this company is one note.
Lol, must've been ages since he's done a piledriver. AEW doesn't seem to like to cutting corners on match quality, even on free TV.

I like how AEW is giving so many opportunities to new talent such as Daniel Garcia. He has been getting a lot of push recently in such a short period of time by competing in the ring against top stars like Darby Allin, Jon Moxley, Eddie Kingston and now CM Punk.

I love how punk wants to work with the young guys he could request matches with Omega, Cody, The bucks and they would be answered but he’s working towards building the future
I feel it's till he gets back to his best. Punk gets to use upcoming talent as a stepping stone till he regains his flair and irons out the creases after a lengthy lay-off & his young opponents get easy exposure/hype. An absolute win-win.
It works to kill two birds with one stone. It lets Punk shake off the remaining ring rust while also putting eyes on the young talent. Everybody gains something out of it.
But to be very honest kenny omega is a whole different level and punk can’t keep up with him at all

here's what i like: i really appreciate the fact that all of the people on commentary are calling the match professionally. there's very little "heel" announcing, which i find completely annoying.

For those of you who may not know. Daniel Garcia is not a human being. The dude was in a car accident and broke his leg at the fibula and the femur and still came back to wrestle 4 months later. Absolute beast recovery.

It's the little things that make Punk one of the greatest in-ring performers of his time. He's the one who asked the question "When John Cena is bending over to wave his hand in my face, what's stopping me from kicking him in the head?" You can see it during the strike exchange at 0:26 where Punk hits Garcia, so now it's Garcia's turn to hit Punk back, but Punk is winding up another shot of his own when Garcia hits him so it doesn't look like the two of them are simply waiting for the other one to hit them like they're in a turn-based JRPG. He has the psychology to work according to wrestling rules, but tweaks it enough to make it look more like a realistic fight, without breaking the suspension of disbelief that wrestling runs on. Also, this is REALLY gonna elevate Garcia if they keep pushing him like this. Guy's got a vicious streak that would make heel Randy Orton go "Ooh, isn't that a bit much?!"
