    Wow! This brings back some memories! I’m 49 now but back in the day I was s skater. My first board was a Tony hawk, then I saw Rodney Mullen, he came to our high school. Bless you bro i hope you and your family are healthy ❤️

    • @irvingbrown2389
      @irvingbrown2389 Před rokem

      @@peeron6829 The last time I attempted anything close to skating was probably around 3 years ago . I was in a local Cumberland farm’s convenient store and a kid came in with one of those boards that is self propelled by leaning one way or the other to make you go and turn. I don’t know if you can compare it to actually being on a board but if it’s any indication of how I would do. It wasn’t good at all. I asked to try it and the second I stood on it, it took off out from beneath my feet and I was laying on my back looking up at the ceiling. No good!! Lmao 🤣. But there’s lots to consider. I was hurt around 8 years ago. I was knocked unconscious and broke several bones and will never be the same. Honestly, what I wouldn’t give to be your age, 25 , dude please don’t hesitate if it’s something you truly want to do. At your age, with practice. Trust me when I tell you that there’s nothing you can’t do. I’m being 100% serious! With practice you will develop the balance and confidence needed to skateboard in whatever style you choose. I’m not even sure if anyone freestyle skates anymore like they used to, back in the days of Rodney Mullen, Pierre Andre. Doing rail to rail tricks, double, triple kick flips, 360 kick flips. I skated for many years from 14 till into my early to mid twenties. Then life changed and I had to change with it. My mind is still young and I still enjoy doing most of the things I did when I was your age. Unfortunately my body won’t let me do what my mind wants to. I suggest you never doubt yourself, whatever you feel you want to do in life, don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t or shouldn’t. We only get one time on this planet. It’s important to follow your heart and dreams. You don’t want to get to a point in life where you can no longer do things you wish you had. Living with regrets is a terrible thing. We never know what tomorrow holds. Of course you have to be respectful of others in your life. But you only get one life, live it to its fullest and be happy!! I hope you do what makes you happy, they say if you figure out how to turn your passion into the way you make a living, you’ll not just be successful but you’ll be happy! No one wants to work a 9-5 their whole lives and be a slave to what society says we should be. That’s ridiculous, you end up getting no where and being miserable. Trust me at 49 years old I’ve learned alot. I am married to the same woman for 30 years, my son is 24 and is a graduate student working on his PhD and works as s teacher’s assistant and gets paid to go to school and for living expenses. He lives with his girlfriend from high school. She graduated with her masters. They both are happy and have a great start in life. They both chose their path and are doing what they want to do with their lives. Everyone’s path is different. I learned a trade out of high school and I use it today to make a living. I’m a welder. After I got hurt. I started working for myself, making tables, chairs, lamps, all kinds of different things I create from repurposing different things. Just before Covid my wife and I bought property. For the first time in my life I own my own land and house. It’s something that’s always been important to me. I’ve been working on building a place that me and my wife can live the rest of our lives . As well as I play pool and have always wanted my own table. Very soon I’ll have one, I’m turning my garage into a game room. I’m building a wind mill, hooking up solar panels and building a greenhouse that can be used year round. I’m from upstate, NY. So just trying to become as self sufficient as possible and be able to survive if things get worse with the world we live in. Anyway sorry for babbling on man. I just wanted to reply to you, I really appreciate you reading my comment and replying. I really appreciate it. I hope you take what I said seriously. Follow your Dreams! If you do, maybe one day you’ll look back and remember this crazy dude who gave you advice on CZcams. I hope whatever you do, you don’t ever look back and wish you had. Take care man!! By the way,Please watch this Documentary. The Alpanist, it’s the story about Marc-Andre Leclerc. This guy knew something most don’t. How to truly live!! This will blow you away!!

    It is amazing to see Mullen do this trick, there's such a noticeable gap between the initial flip and the rotation change, when he kicks his back foot out I geek so hard I get a physical chill up my spine...
    I guess once you get the actual mechanics down, you can practice popping it higher and higher, giving you more time to stretch out the gap between the two moments. It's great to see the host come back to tighten up the next day.

      Often tricks happen by accident. Like when Im feeling experimental with my board, Ill just try random stuff and see what happens. Or I do my usual tricks in a different way. Every now and then something weird happens and if you can repeat that, congratulations new trick. At least this is true for underflips and late flips - they happen accidentally.

    Great attempts dude! That semi flip always blew my mind, so hard when really understand whats happening. Andy Anderson has some pretty good old-school Rodney-style-freestyle tricks, these days, including a semi variation. One thing I wanted to point out: notice how tucked up Rodney's knees are at the top of his semi. He's pulling his feet up with his whole body to flip the board, which is I think why his board flips so slow and steazy like it does (vs late-flip flicking it fast the most people try it). In other words, use ankle pivot to balance the board on your foot, and not flick it, but pump your feet up giving the board a slower flip motion.. Idk LOL that sounds impossible but many things Rodney did/does are so... Great series - looking forward to watching the rest of these.

    Break down the physics of the feet placement and more slowmo cameras and angles. I love seeing you learn how to break down tricks like he does so that hopefully by episode 10 you will have the fundamentals to try inventing a trick of your own with combining the underlying movements you know the board is capable of.

      Haha but seriously when I was a kid I played THPS a bunch on gameboy, and this video is great cos it brings back so many memories of countless hours of free playing and trying to build up points. I’ve never been a good skater but it’s very cool to see others getting after it
      I don’t really follow skating now, but have any of the young guys managed to surpass the crazy skills of guys in the 90’s and early 2000’s? I know freestyle moto and bmx and scooters have gone mental with the nitro crew, but are there modern skaters doing what Bam and Tony and Rodney and the boys did back in the day?
