- This week I take a first look at the Tecnam P2006T in Microsoft Flight Simulator - a nicely modelled twin, available from Aerosoft. The procedure and systems modelling is very, very good - there are just a few bits and pieces that could do with improvement. Enjoy!

The plane that got me into aviation
Been waiting for this! Great video
Cheers :)
Love your content! Thanks Jonathan!!
Nice video and the best review I've seen so far of this one. Thanks...!!!
Glad you liked it!
Interesting plane, read the 1.0.1 patch notes and a few things addressed it seems, one to keep an eye on, the lack of sounds change is something that really needs addressing. Thanks for the vid!
Yeah I agree
This is the best review of this plane so far. It's a little too pricey and update is needed to fix a few things that you brought up and others too. This is one of those interesting planes like the Cessna 182 where the G1000 is tied to an older autopilot and loses some features such as VNM. This requires a more "hands on" approach which I know you prefer.
Absolutely :) Let's see if the developers update it.
There is a little hatch that you can open in front of the pilot's seat, where if you have a landing gear failure, you can open it up and manually release the gear.
Yep :)
Another cool airplane! Good thing my birthday is coming up.
Happy birthday!
Nice video, I bought mine a few days ago.
Two things that I'm not sure if they have any effect on the operation is...
The chokes - I was able to start the plane with or without them and flew for some time with them on having no influence on performance.
The carb heaters - I flew with them on in warm temps and off in artic temps saw no change in performance or change in the gages.
But other than those items, I quite enjoy flying the P2006T and don't regret my purchase. It is a fun plane to fly.
Yeah - it's missing quite a bit of functionality.
@@jonbeckett has it improved in the last few months?
@@Fred-rv2tu waiting for response as well... accordingly i will buy or not.
Nice video! There is a reason why you think the Rotax engines sound like a lawnmower. They are also used in lawnmowers 😊 and the autopilot seems to be an S-Tec which is indeed different to the standard MSFS autopilot.
There are some serious bugs in the autopilot - you can get it stuck in a loop where it sits flickering :)
Nice video thanks for posting, I would be surprised if she was that well behaved with stalls in real life? Nice plane and using the Rotax engines will make it affortable for a training platform and many flight schools are now using it.
Yes, I'd be interested to know if the real-love plane is so well-behaved too. If it is, great! But if not, here's hoping the devs make it a bit more lively to match the real world in a future update.
Good question!
I get to play with the real thing, she's a gentle staller but it's a bit too gentle in the sim. It tends to eventually let a wing drop in a power off stall IRL
might buy this to get familiar with this aircraft as i will be flying the real one soon
It's pretty good - might be useful for procedures, and familiarisation with layout.
Now I want to get my pilot-license 😂
(and never have any money ever again)
I would love to experience MSFS in VR at some point. Headtracking also a good option to help with looking around and when I see such a video it definitely looks more immersive.
VR is a mixed blessing. I've tried it. You cannot see the mouse or keyboard...
@@jonbeckett Good point
I find you get used to the lack of a visible mouse extremely quickly, and the lack of a keyboard is usually a non-issue if you're using a flight stick with sufficient assignable buttons for the basics. I do a lot of my flying in VR now and even on a pretty modest PC it's a game changer for me.
@@jonbeckettthere's an app to fix it it cost $18
I started flight simming in vr in 2016 and wouldn’t think of going back.
Well I got a lot of engine sound and a good screech on touch down. Perhaps you have earphones "on"?
The plane has been updated several times since it was released :)
Umm, that engine noise while you showing off the tiedowns etc after shutting it down at the parking ??? I also noticed (because of the engine noise lol) that when you use the checklist to go outside to do the preflight things it is using the internal sounds not the external sounds.
That's because it's actually the interal view that's been moved (to keep it clickable)
Dang it! Every time you review an awesome plane, my wallet somehow becomes a bit lighter, afterwards! 🤣
for me as well
Sorry! :)
I hear you I love buying them and have a bunch on my Wishlist. I try my best to restrict how many I buy each month 😂Addictive this hobby.
@@jonbeckett happy days
Fun fact these can be controlled completely by the prop rpm after takeoff
It would make sense.
Not one for me atm. Pretty big oversight with no stall warning and no sounds on landing - and like many others im going off the modern glass cockpits and like the old steam gages more now.
I'm sure they patch and improve this, but several dev's and too few in my view atm have set new bars of excellence that others now need to meet/eceed or compete with.
Great video though.
It's not THAT bad - just missing a bit of polish :) If you add FSRealistic to it, it becomes better!
Sorry, but what is the passenger bus product? Is that GSX?
I think so.
Isn't this made by Flight Sim Studios? Has there been any updates on the plane since you bought it?
I've not checked.
@@jonbeckett So you haven't flown it since this video?
First. Quality add-on
Rule no.1 - don't write "first" :)
@@jonbeckett 😂😂😂 thats the “first” rule
This aircraft received an update yesterday and another one is on its way. It's a pity you didn't do the walkaround and you didn't manually start the engines... (;
I will soon :)
@@jonbeckett I'm waiting for it. (:
When you say it is "placid" this is of course in contrast to the vast majority of GA/utility aircraft in MSFS which are MILES too twitchy in pitch.
Try flying the spitfire in DCS then. A lot of the criticism comes from people using toy joysticks with no resistence. Real yolks etc have a LOT more travel, and forces countering your intentions :)
If one dose not feel well one should not do a video We completly understand , you need time to heal but being English one must press on. Wellll do get well soon and drink plenty of tea with honey.
Now THERE'S a good idea :)
but one thing am in pakistan only u have to DL ( face track no IR) software it is free.
I've done videos in the past looking at AITrack and Smoothtrack :)
sir if u allow me i can make a diy track IR for u working with normal web cam
The problem with DIY IR tracking solutions is latency. I think it will be useful for viewers to see the big name tracking solutions on the channel.
Hi Jonathon, you mentioned looking into the Toby eye tracker...
To add to your research I'd suggest you take a look at the Monkey King Puck head tracker.
After watching this review (czcams.com/video/HihxGMaGppA/video.html) by Dreamsofwings I purchased it and I'm loving it... 😊👍🏻
I may end up looking at several of them.
