    You can make a subsection of the specific issue to be mediated that is blocking the settlement. Hammer that issue out separetely dont all actors get residuals for previous works on their resume now? It seems like minutia for selfish drama and people need to work right now, not when your grandmother jezebel decides if it is okay to work? Such selfish posers, always want to be stumbling blocks.

    It's sad that the industry's pay for the average working actor is so small while execs make millions. The only one who will suffer for this is the consumers. God forbid the streamers may a few million less in profit.

  • @jmcnally647
    @jmcnally647 Před 11 měsíci +2

    I wonder if the undisclosed factor in all of this is the distribution channels for the streaming networks (aka the ISPs). Cable service has shriveled on the vine and all but died off in wake of all the streaming platforms-could it be the ISPs are the ones that also need to be weighing in on this? Either the streaming platforms are hoarding too much or the back end payouts for the distribution of their networks runs a pretty penny which is why advertisements are still so critical. I thought it might be better for the industry to regroup and develop new streaming platforms if the big players won't negotiate-but maybe it's the ISPs that are really the bottleneck in all of these talks, only there is no real language to explain this part of the process in the current business model?

    The problem with Ted Sarandos noting studios' offering a “success-based bonus” means that they can keep purposely dumping shows to make them purposely bomb or even shelve finished projects (BATGIRL) and not pay anyone and get that content very cheap or practically free!

    • @Random_dud31
      @Random_dud31 Před 10 měsíci +1

      That. And what is defines "success"? Remember, hollywood accounting is actually a thing. They could inflate the production cost of the show just so they can deem it a failure

      @@Random_dud31 Thank you and we have NEVER seen so many TV shows and even feature films shelved or cancelled when they were almost finished. usually, reshoots are done then the results are released. There is something VERY wrong with that.

    • @TheQuickyouknow
      @TheQuickyouknow Před 10 měsíci

      @@Random_dud31 the WGA posted the new deal online. Production cost isn't a part of the calculation. Plus there's 3rd party auditors to make sure no one is cooking the books.

    • @TheQuickyouknow
      @TheQuickyouknow Před 10 měsíci

      If you look at the deal on WGA's website a 2nd season is not needed to get the bonus. If a lot of people view a show (relative to their subscribers) then the bonus is paid. Even if the show gets canceled, the bonus is paid.
      While they could not release a show, that would be a very dumb way to avoid the bonus. Batgirl cost like $90M. It would make no sense to waste $90M because you're afraid of paying a couple million in bonuses. That show was written off because Warner got a special tax benefit from the merger with Discovery. That was a one off, they only had a couple months to use that benefit, it's gone now.

    The thing is, once this Israeli - Hamas situation kicked off (no doubt using some of the US military equipment we know got into Hamas hands after that afghanistan pullout), people cared even less about this strike than before. The offers listed in AMPTPs latest deal is something that other industry professionals could only dream of. There are remedies to lifestyle inflation yaknow..

      @christmasfanj6735 Před 10 měsíci +1

      Oh please the outline of AI protection in their statement is BS. yes they claim they ask for "permission" but to the AMPTP this means you need to give permission on the first day or you will not get hired. And afther this they can use it whenever they want without further permission or compensation. So that is not protecting the actor.

    • @TheQuickyouknow
      @TheQuickyouknow Před 10 měsíci +3

      @@christmasfanj6735 It implies you give permission to have your image scanned by AI, but if they need your permission to use it then what's the problem?

      @christmasfanj6735 Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@TheQuickyouknow Read again what I said. They "ask" permission on the first day of work (which is not asking, it's saying, if u want to get hired u need to give permission, otherwise u will not get hired, so it only LOOKS like they ask permission on paper but in reality it's shaking u down for it) , afther that they do NOT need to ask permission again to use it again and again and again in that project or any other project they so wish, without further payment. They OWN it to use whenever and however they see fit in all their projects, untill the end of time, without asking permission or giving compensation for the use of it, or for having your likeness used to train the AI model to create totally new and "original" people.

    • @TheQuickyouknow
      @TheQuickyouknow Před 10 měsíci

      @@christmasfanj6735 what was proposed was they need to ask for permission each time they want to use your likeness. I'm not sure if you're looking at the latest proposal, but they have made some progress there.
      Tbh, I think it's silly to fight AI to this degree. What they should be fighting for is getting comparable pay for their image as well as having the final approval on its use.

    It can't be "unfair" that AMPTP walked out of the negotiations when the entire point of SAG-AFTRA calling a strike was to walk out of the negotiations. Remember, the AMPTP offered to extend the pre-strike negotiations but SAG declined. Now they are all shocked that the AMPTP is doing to them what they originally did. Does Fran Dresher even know what a strike is?

    • @christmasfanj6735
      @christmasfanj6735 Před 11 měsíci +11

      It's clear you don't know what you are talking about. SAG-AFTRA did NOT decline to extend the negotiations, they did extend it afther they failed to reach a deal and the contract was up. During this extension the AMPTP kept cancelling meetings and did NOT negotiate. When they did finally come back on the last day of the extension, they came back with NO deal to the table and asked for another extension. That's when , rightfully so, SAG-AFTRA called the strike (for which members voted to do) since the current contract had expired weeks before! Fran right then said to the AMPTP , lets keep talking and negotiating and the AMPTP said no and it's THEM that walked away from the table back then, as they did now!

    • @Hedgehobbit
      @Hedgehobbit Před 11 měsíci

      @christmasfanj6735 Nothing you said contradicts what I said. SAG-AFTRA refused to extend the negotiations and, instead, went on strike. The AMPTP is just using the same tactics.

      @@Hedgehobbit No you falsely claimed SAG-AFTRA did not give an extension, which they did, only to find out by the end of it AMPTP did not use the time to keep negotiating and cancelling meetings, just used the time to promoter their summer blockbusters. And falsely claimed SAG-AFTRA walked away from the table which they did not because Fran said on day one of the strike, despite the strike lets keep talking and negotiations goin at the table and it was the AMPTP that said no we are walking away and making ourselves unavailable. SAG-AFTRA never did those tactics as you claimed.

      @@HedgehobbitThere were no negotiations going on when the strike began. The AMPTP cancelled negotiation meetings then asked for a second extension without making any offers. Now every industry is striking all at once
    I find it very hard to believe that’s just a coincidence
