  • Daniel and I got back to work on converting our truck bed into a tiny home on wheels. This video we worked on building the framing for our bed and our counter. We started by measuring and cutting two large pieces of plywood for out flooring. We used 3/4 inch plywood for the floor which we rested on some 1X2's to have something to screw it into and make the floor area a little more even. After securing the floor down with a ton of screws we got to work with the rest of the build. We measured a ton and cut pieces of wood to fit with our design. Our design for the bed is to have two large areas for drawers, a small empty area for the duct for our diesel heater, and an area that will house the diesel heater and the fuel tank. This area will be at the very beginning when you open the truck camper so that we can easily access the fuel tank for quick fuelling and the diesel heater if anything should go wrong with it. after completing the framing for the bed we got to work making the counter supports. we measured the area and cut out wood to frame the area. Daniel and I have NO experience building anything so we spent a lot of time researching and debating between each other how we we're going to lay out the inside. We are pretty happy with our progress and how everything turned out. If you're wanting to convert or build out something but are feeling nervous, please don't! If we can do it, anyone can! I promise once you get working on it all the research will start to make more sense. Just start with whatever you can and work from there! Thanks so much for watching! This has been a ton of work, but very rewarding! Stay tuned for more videos on the build!

Im a home builder that started out building learning by trial and error. I just wanted to tell yall im proud of you for trying and that is all that matters. So many folks throw money at projects such as hiring someone else to do the work and never learning anything. They have no skin in the game and yall do. You have accomplished something to be proud of.

Looks good. However, I might suggest countersinking the screwheads so it doesn't split the wood. Bits are available that drill a pilot hole & bore a cone-shaped hole in surface of wood at once.

Looks good! Why did you decide to lay the runners down underneath the floor sheet of plywood?

Thanks so much! We thought if any water got underneath the platform it would run out instead of soaking the wood. It also made the platform one solid piece so nothing moved. One massive mistake we made though was not treating the wood we should have painted it or something because I’m sure it’s still wet down there. Thanks for watching have a great day!

You probably could have spent half the time screwing that all together if you used the power drill with a screw driver attachment instead of that slow low powered screwdriver.
