- In this video I build a drawer system in a 2018 double cab Toyota Tacoma. The truck is equipped with a Go Fast Campers V2. This project was all done using simple tools and minimal materials you can find at local hardware stores. Watch my build process over a few days and see the awesome finished product!

Every CZcams “how to” video should be like this. Detailed just enough with on point narration. Great job not only on making this video but the drawer slide is awesome.
Great job. I'd like to see a list of the products you used in the build though. Nicely done.
This guy makes it look easy. He is really good with his hands. Impressed to seem how much drilling/cutting was free handed.
Haha thanks. I don’t have fancy tools or much room so gotta make it happen with what I’ve got.
Man this is an incredible simplistic drawer build. I’ll pretty much do exactly this for my truck after seeing this
Thanks so much! Appreciate ya checking it out. Good luck with the project.
Me too. Having the half bed still full height is key for me!
Great build in both design and workmanship! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you appreciate the kind words.
This is exactly what I want on my tundra after I pick up my GFC v2 next month but I am not handy at all with wood work. Lol. Will def give this a shot, thanks for the informative video.
Nice congrats on the V2 purchase. Yeah give it a try. Even if you mess up the wood part you can still use the drawer slides again if you hire someone to rebuild the wood part. Sure, you will have wasted some time and money on the wood but the expensive slide part will be reusable.
Excellent!! You made it look not easy but gave the novice a great blueprint. Superb video work which really made it enjoyable to watch.
Thanks a lot. Appreciate ya watching. Hope it helps and good luck with the project.
Awesome Vid!! Can't wait to work on my truck. This was very helpful and intuitive...
Nice build. I like that trick of ripping the drawer sides after routing the divider slots. Less set up and more accurate. Good work.
Thanks! I can't take full credit for that... I was talking to my dad on the phone (a 50 year contractor) talking about ripping these slots with the router and he recommending doing them as a full sheet first so I would get perfect alignment of the slots later down the line during assembly. I guess you learn a trick or two with that many years under the belt.
This a professional grade installation and fit and finish. Impressive
Thank you!!! Appreciate it.
Great job, very concise and I like your attention to detail. I've been searching for a plan for my Tundra so I can build a camper bed on a sliding drawer system so I can sleep in the truck when I'm towing my boat on long trips to avoid hotel expenses. Thanks for the knowledge!
Thank you, appreciate it! Sounds like a solid plan you have.
Great video. Thanks for sharing this. Going to have to try it.
Amazing job! I've been trying to make a double drawer for my Ute tub, and I've been struggling, yet you made it look like it's the easiest thing in the world! Will be using this video as a reference for my own tub sliders as it's just far superior then the way I've been doing it!
Thank you! Glad it will be a useful video to follow along with. Good luck with the project
Clean work, your design is an example of less is more, great job
thanks so much, appreciate the kind words.
Building out my 2020 TRD Off-road. Great video great storage idea. I will be borrowing some of your design. Love the simplicity of your tutorial. Good luck in your future endeavors.
Glad it is a little useful. Appreciate it!
great build. just what I need for my 3rd gen 4runner.
Thank you!
Saving this build for later. Great stuff
Rad. Good luck with the build and hope it’s helpful
Great video. Great build. Looks awesome. Cant wait to use this video as a template for my build.
Thanks! Hope the video is helpful for your build
Excellent! Love your craftsmanship
Thank you very much!
Man I’m using your video as a guide to build my system. Awesome work! Got a new subscriber 👍🏼 cheers
Awesome, hope it turns out great. Thanks!
I like the max track cubby in the front😁
Awesome build. Super clean
Thanks. Appreciate it!
Wowwwww looks very very good job. Well done, thanks for your info. I will build one myself, but now it will be easier with your tips, thanks again.
Thank you and glad it was helpful.
Nice work!! The finished product is so clean! Well done man!
Thank you. Appreciate it!
Great build, just subscribed! Looking around as I just "got in line" for a new GFC!
Thank you and Thanks for the subscription. You will love the GFC, congrats on pulling the trigger.
Well ... I guess I'll sell my table saw.
Nice work! Just what I needed to see before my build.
Hahaha. A nice table saw sure would have made things easier than my homemade straight edge system.
Man! I regret buying my Truck Vault after watching this! Great work my dude!🤘
Thanks man. Appreciate it.
Great job I want something exactly like this for my Tacoma
Thanks, They are a dream for organizing
Great proyect, Actually the most usefull so far (searching for DIY versions of the Decked system).
Now, A couple things I saw that I personally think could be better... The handle for the drawer is great, but if it gets stuck in the close position good luck (a simple combination of too much weight and the truck facing down an incline can do it easily). I think you could moove the slide rails up and place 2 simple handles (like a cabinet handle or something like that) so that when you gran the handles you can unlock the slides with your pinky and pull inmediatelly with both hands or with one if you prefer.
The other one I see is that in my personal opinion, You could make it slimer (like lower) in order for it to allow as much of the original functionality of the bed as possible. why? just because having taller sides on the bed makes it easyer to place some things there without being worried about them falling out easily. Adding to it I would personally duplicate the support bracing you made for those "ammo can" cubbies in the other side, just for convenience because that way you can add annother large piece of ply and have a flat top on the same level if you want to or need it.
Personally, I'm gonna do it very similar to your proyect for my dads build just so he can have all his stuff available, secure, dry and out of the way when he doesn´t need it. But keeping as much functionality in the bed as possible.
Thanks for checking out the video.
This is a good video for me to follow step by step. Thanks!
Awesome. Glad I can be helpful
I like how you are showing your thinking process, as you design it. I don't need that, but I know lots of others do. So many CZcamsrs merely show you that THEY know how to do a thing, without really explaining enough for others to replicate what they did.
Thanks, appreciate ya watching.
Nice build. Inspired to redesign my plans. Thanks
Thanks for checking out the video. Hope it helped.
@@prospectoverland it did. Mine is for an 8ft bed.
This is such a useful video. Great build!
Thanks appreciate it.
DAYYUUUMM! So clean, im jelly!
Thanks Dude!
This gives me the confidence to build it my self too haha.
Forsure man, give it a shot. Just take your time over a few days and measure a lot. It’s just wood, you can always get some more.
I’ve been researching all day on how to build these. I have to say your system is the cleanest, esthetically pleasing and really the nicest. I have a Tacoma, but do you have a video on the Tundra? I want to build a full two drawer system. I’m gonna build a dog barrier on top, so my family can take our 4 dogs camping. Anyway, great content, cheers.
Thanks so much. Hope it will be helpful. I didn’t make a video for mine. My tundra was the first one I’ve done and focus just on figuring it out. This Tacoma was the second one. You can in theory just double what I did. Just take the distance between your wheel well and split it in half. It will force you to make your drawers a certain width only. Don’t forget to account for thickness of plywood and drawer sliders. About a 1.5” per side.
Hope it works out well for the family and dogs.
i need a friend like you. great job!
Hahaha thanks. I wish I had the time and space to make these for people. I’ve had a lot ask me to build them one.
Really a nice job , your this guys hero !!
Thanks Hahahahaha!!
awesome drawers! very clean
Thanks, appreciate it
Very high quality build, would be more convenient if the top of the box had hinges so drawer contents could be accessed from inside when camper is closed up for the night.
That’s great idea and will totally add that if I ever build one of these again.
This is the best truck drawer built I’ve see. Going to check out your first build if it’s up. Where did you get the slides?
Wow thanks a lot. I didn’t film the one for my tundra. I hadn’t really started my CZcams channel deal at that point. But it’s pretty similar to this Tacoma just double the drawer space.
They are 60” locking slides from OVIS if you google them.
Good job! Subscribed!! Very detail work, looks awesome!!
Thank you very much!
Great Job. Thanksfor vid , glad u got passed the 1k subscribers..! Keep'm coming
Thanks a lot. Appreciate the support.
This is excellent handy work man.
Thanks, appreciate it!
Looks awesome
Thanks!!!
Great vid, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Awesome project
Thank you!
Beautiful
Thanks!
Man sweet build, I need one for my 5 foot taco, should consider selling kits and I would 1st to buy it.
Thanks man. I have considered making them as a side business but unless I’m able to have them cut out on a automated system it’s so time consuming to custom make each system. But if I change my mind I’ll let ya know.
Fantastic build!
Thanks!!!
I see a lot of builds using this long drawer slide out method that only opens if the tailgate is down. A better option would be for there to be 3-4 smaller drawers that open into the back of the bed or a swing up option for the bed to access the space under the bed. This way the space is usable when the back is closed up.
agree
nice build, thank you!
Appreciate it. Thanks!
Nice work great descriptive video on how to! .I would want a hidden drawer in the big drawer for camera gear long expensive items if thieves cant see them they cant take them.
Thank you! yeah lots of different options but that hidden drawer would be a cool feature...maybe tricky to build.
Really nice job. You have Skilzzzzzz
Haha thanks a lot, I try. Appreciate it.
Awesome work!!! Inspiring
Thank you! Appreciate it
Nice one mate. Very inspired
Thank you!
What a creative man,I wish we live in the same town for pay you to make one for me,😊good job
Thank you!!!
Have you ever thought about doing one that has a 2nd set of slides mounted to the top cover so that you can slide the top tray out for anything you store on top of the drawers not in the drawers.
Yeah there are a lot of very cool, more modular options with more slides. I have never attempted it and the guy who’s truck this is didn’t need that system.
Awesome project! What is the estimated weight for the tacoma drawer?
Beautiful I like it nice job
Thanks appreciate it.
Great job sir learn alot thanks
Thank you! Glad it was helpful
Damn. Like a pro.
Haha thanks appreciate it.
Awesome workmanship1
Thank you! Appreciate it.
Thinking about adding something like this to replace the bed mat for flat floor and be able to mount fridge slide when i get my GFC. My question is with using the D rings to secure the base to the bed did you have to get longer hardware or did the factory D ring bolts work with the 3/4 inch ply wood?
Damn good built
Thanks! Appreciate it
Love it!
Thanks man!
I wanna do this but include a second piece up top on hinges that I could fold it out and create a flat sleeping platform. My yota I picked up yesterday only has the 5ft bed, I need every inch I can get to sleep in that thing lol
That’s a good idea for extra sleeping.
I'm inspired, nice build bud!
Glad it could help. Thank you!
Nice work 👏
Thanks ✌️
Side note. One year ago goal was 1k Subscribers. I see you have over 5k now. Congrats!
Was it really. Dang! Thanks for the fact check. Pretty cool. Hope to keep it going. Thanks for the support.
Nice job man.
Thanks!
Great video!!
Thank you!
great project buddy
Thanks! Appreciate it
Very nice!
Thanks!
Great job!!!!
Thank you!
Nice work
Thank you!!
Every thing looks great. One question the draw slides, where can they be bought. I do live in Canada and just happen to have a Tacoma with the 6ft box. Your finished product looks very professional .
Thank you!
They are from Ovis

Great work, I need something like this for my Tundra, I have a ARB refrigerator and two drawer storage boxes, I need the side boxes as the fit kits that ARB makes don’t fit the Tundra or even mount to their smallest drawers that I have!
Thanks for checking it out. Did you build your current box?
@@prospectoverland , I have an ARB drawer system with my ARB refrigerator that I’m going to use as the center, I will use wood and carpet to fill in around the ARB boxes, with some side storage.
How did you secure the base to the truck bed? Can you share details on that part of the process? Thanks!
Very Nice build!
Thanks!
Dude. This gave me inspiration. Came out super nice. What time should I be over so you can build mine? 😅
Haha, man it’s a lot of work, but worth it in the end for how organized and useful the bed becomes. Give it a go 👍
This is really kick ass man! Could i suggest an irig for your iPhone recordings and a mic? It would help a ton
Thanks.
I’ll check out what that product is, thanks.
awesome!!
Thanks!
I like a lot this build but im kind of concerned of how high it is leaving less space in the top which is the main reason I dont want to go the "Decked" route. I will like to build it lower, but gosh those rails are expensive! hah. I was really waiting to see how do you attach the rail part to the drawer making it right and well balanced right away but that is not in the video, ahhh
Nice
Bravo!
Thanks!
Thank you for the great build. I enjoyed every moment of it. I have a question: Where did you order the sliders from? (if you still like them)
Thanks for checking it out....They worked great, they are form OVIS. US based company, great slides. dont buy the cheap amazon ones. Tried that first and went through a couple sets before i spent the money on OVIS ones.
amazing
Thanks!
Very Nice! Where is your build video for the double drawer in your Tundra?
I didn’t do a video of that build. It was my first one and figured I should practice once before I film it. So this Tacoma video was my second one.
Could you link the two latches together using a riser bar or small angle iron or something? Other than that, pretty cool 👍
Yeah not a bad idea. Maybe even just use that grab bar as the handle to pull the drawer out as well and skip the spring loaded black handle in the middle. Or just go with only one locking slide. I just wasn’t sure of one lock would be secure enough but maybe it would be.
Digging this one side drawer set up! Would you share the link for the drawer slides and those handles for the cubbyholes you used please? Thanks for documenting this DIY, subscribed!!!
Thanks for checking it out and the sub.
Here are the slides:

@@prospectoverland thanks!
Awesomjob bro
Thank you!!!
@Prospect Overland - Doing my buildout on a short bed Tacoma now, dual side by side drawers. Thanks for such a good video! I have similar slides as you (Ovis 48"). For install, did you just rest the slides on the bottom of the drawer box and then screw them into the sides of the drawer box? Then, once they were installed, did you just set your drawer in the drawer box or did you space it off the bottom a little bit? I have a sheet of 1/8" wood, I was thinking of dropping my drawer on that for the spacer.
You nailed it! I spaced mine up just a little. I think I used a door shim maybe but a 1/8 ply is perfect! Yes set the slide in the box first and screw to the box. Then set the draw in between the freshly mounted slides and screw to the drawer. You will have to screw a few of them through the small holes in the actual metal slide. They and opening to drill through.
Killer build! Question for you how did you mount the plywood base to the truck bed on your Tundra build/version of this?
Thanks, appreciate it!!
Turn buckles on each corner to the factory tie down spots. Send me a message on instagram and I can reply back with a pic.
@prospect_overland.
@@prospectoverland thanks for getting back to me! I'll reach out on IG!
This is a great build, thanks for sharing. Sorry if I missed this somewhere, but where can I purchase the drawer slides that you used? I have the same tacoma as the one in this vid.
Thank you! sorry for the delay in responding. Here is a link to the ones i used. They have since come out with black slides if that color is good for your set up.
www.ovisonline.com/60-Heavy-Duty-Locking-Drawer-Slide-FR5400-L-P1860.aspx
Great 👍
Thank you!!!
Very very nice drawer system! What would you charge if somebody would want the same exact setup as the Tacoma?
Thank you, appreciate it. Probably in the $3k range. It took a lot of hours.
How did you attach the plywood base to the truck bed?
Excellent! Please provide a link or description to the drawer slides, thanks.
Thanks.
Google OVIS locking slides. I used 60” slides but they make different lengths depending on your set up.
Awesome build!!! Do you have a build materials list? Looking to source the drawer slides and other hardware
Thanks,
These are the ones I used for my build. But make sure this length will work for your exact situation. They have other length options

The other drawer handles and small things are just on amazon and whatever appearance and function preference you like.
