  • Todays video I am adding Helbrutes to my Thousand Sons, but first we need to magnetise them so that when the 9th Edition codex drops, we can choose the best loadouts!
    Magnets used
    3x1mm for the interconnecting Lascannon/Heavy bolter to shoulder
    3x2mm for the weapon ends (Autocannon, plasma cannon etc)
    3x3mm for the ranged arm mount to weapons
    4x2mm for the shoulder connectors to torso
    5x2mm for inside the torso (and can be used inside the weapon shoulders too if you do that full concealed route)

      Nice! Yeah free weapons makes for a real reason to magnetise when you can. Glad it’s useful!

    I've found it very easy to magnetize the hammer and scourge. Inside hammer arm I've put two sprue frame pieces on top of each other. On top I've put a 4x2 mm magnet matching polarity with the one in arm joint. The one in the arm joint is drilled out, same as in the video. And it fits perfectly (shoulder pauldron attached). No need to put it at an angle.
    Same with the fist hollow space - I've put a sprue frame piece in there, a fragment with round peg for extra height. It turned out i've had to drill this piece a bit, so a 3x1 mm magnet is recessed 0,5 mm. Glued the magnet, put another one on top, put a drop of super glue on the second one and placed the panel piece or combi bolter piece on top. Fits perfectly and there is no need for green stuff.
    You are missing the option to remove heavy flamer. It is possible to magnetize those bits with 2x1 mm magnets and pieces of paper clips put into drilled holes ~0,5 mm.
    And one last thing - not necessary but I think it adds to the look to attach the cables. You glue some and add fuel cell to other weapons. I've opted to magnetize most. Only the back one on the weapon arm and outer one on the multi melta are glued on (on one side). The rest is magnetized with 2x1 magnet in the socket and piece of paperclip in the cable. In the left arm there are two cables with sockets, those can be done with 2x1 magnets only. The instruction says those cables fit only with a certain torso piece but I've used the other one and the cable look ok.

      I am going to magnetize my own helbrute soon but i have 2 questions. Is there an alternative to the green stuff as it seems to be quite expensive and delivery on amazon is quite long. Also, when you put the magnets inside the torso did you just glue it onto the inside on the piece that mounts the arm and use some green stuff?@@OldAverageBritGaming

    • @OldAverageBritGaming
      @OldAverageBritGaming  Před 5 měsíci

      @@tkplays8482pretty much any hard setting modelling clay will do here. It’s just to pack out the cavity and stop any magnets coming loose inside once it’s all glued shut. There are plenty of alternatives to green stuff out there I think :) but yeah glue magnet, pack with whatever you buy and that’s it! Good luck!

    I magnetized my first Helbrute about a year ago when I only had little experience assembling minis, so it was a bit of a challenge, but a fun one nonetheless. All the drilling and gluing and making sure I got the polarity right taught me a lot when I just barely got into the hobby. As for the left arm, I assembled the power scourge, but I did want to have ALL the weapons available just because. So I bought some Green Stuff and Blue Stuff and made a copy of the missing parts, which look almost indistinguishable from the real thing once painted. However as the Green Stuff is heavier than plastic, I probably should have used a stronger magnet for that part.

    I was able to magnetize my hellbrute with kinda bigger magnets. All the same size, bits of sprue and some luck. I've magnetized a predator, a wolf gaurd terminator,deff dreds and a redemptor dread and the hellbrute has been the toughest one so far but man it's cool to have all the options.

      @OldAverageBritGaming  Před 3 lety +1

      Nice one! Sometimes it does come down to a bit of luck but it’s always in the planning to make these things work. It really is cool to have all the options so no matter what a codex does or a points change does, we can run what we like!

      1 sneaky request for a future video: do you think it would be possible to do a magnetising video for the Forge/Maulerfiend, please?
      I'm wondering if it would be an option to alternate between both builds using all of the parts in the standard kit. 🤔

      Absolutely, I have 3 Fiend kits boxed and ready for building, so will certainly video the guide to that. I think it can be done, it might not look like the boxed version specifically, but would still be fine to use on initial inspection. As the mauler has front legs, and the Forge has front guns but ill see soon enough!
