- As a tax collector for the Romans, Levi routinely stole from his people in Israel. Yet Jesus singled out this hated man and called him to be a disciple. In this sermon, R.C. Sproul continues his exposition of the gospel of Luke and considers how the grace of the gospel is displayed in the calling of Levi.

Thank you, Dr. Sproul. That was very, very clear. I need Jesus just as much as a pharisee and just as much as a tax collector.
Thank you so much my dear Lord Jesus Christ ✝️ for saving calling a sinners like me 🙏🏼😭
There’s always someone who irrelevantly *BLURTS* that out in every Christian video. 🤦🏻♂️
@@itsok2bwhiteendanti-whiteh548 yep, there's a lot of spammers and attention seekers out there.
@@itsok2bwhiteendanti-whiteh548 and you're here, hearing God speak.
Im preparing a sermon on these verses, and im so glad i found this sermon.
I regret that it took me so long to discover the preaching of Pastor Sproul, but I'm so grateful that I eventually did. Thank you Ligonier Ministries for making these sermons available! God bless you all!
Amen
I was under the impression that tithing was not a commandment. I'm so glad that I watched this. Since I dont have a job and im only 17 I have an allowance but I will give 10% of what I have. I'm so glad that I saw this video since I didn't know tithing was something I was supposed to do.
Tithing is NOT a command for Christians. The church isn’t to “tax” believers. Believers are to give offerings (as to what they are able and willing), not be taxed by the church. This isn’t Roman Catholicism.
The New Testament is clear on how to give. Temple or priestly tithing is an Old Testament theocratic tax where its origins trace back to the days of Abraham, but its system essentially ended with the temple being destroyed in 70 A.D.
@@itsok2bwhiteendanti-whiteh548 Jesus said he did not come to change one iota of the law.

The MORAL law of God, that is. If Old Testament legislative laws were still in effect, you’d be in far worse trouble for eating shellfish or pork, or worse. 🤦🏻♂️
Tithing is a good and right thing to do 👍

Yet you cannot justify it honestly from scripture. The scriptures are clear that a tithing tax is not a command given in scripture. R.C. doesn’t even make that argument, he simply bases his presumptions on Old Testament principles, not New Testament instructions on giving.
All the evidence one needs is readily available in those links, especially the one from Dr. John MacArthur, who adamantly disagrees with R.C. on tithing.
To go as far as R.C. did here to say that not tithing is “stealing from God” is utter heresy. I now question his motivations for pushing tithing… self-boastfulness, greed, fear, ignorance, control, tradition? Whatever it was, it certainly wasn’t scripture.
They cover their ears
Refusing to listen to the Holy Spirit
Saying instead tithing is Old Testament
New Testament - the Lord loves a cheerful giver
Translation- there is no cap
Listen to the Holy Spirit and give
THERE ARE A LOT OF LIES,……….. BUT THERE IS ONLY ONE TRUTH,………JESUS CHRIST IS OUR LORD AND SAVIOR THE ONLY TRUTH,……..THE ONLY WAY,…….AND DEFINITLY THE ONLY TRUE LIFE THERE IS,………..PRAISE HIS PERFECT PRECIOUS HOLY AND WONDERFULL NAME,……AMEN
Is it really that difficult to make a comment relevant to the video and discussion instead of randomly blurting things out?
