    I would really love it if you explored the historical sites of PH. Places that come to mind are Iloco's Vigan City (pronounced like how you would say "vegan") and Bataan (Bah-tah-ahn), specifically Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar. Las Casas showcases colonial Philippines and you can have tours and learn more about the history. I recommend staying there at least overnight (you can rent an entire Casa or just a room). Its a really beautiful place and I just love the architecture, art, and history there
    Vigan has a lot of museums, historical sites, and the famous Calle (pronounced Kal-yeh) Crisologo and kalesa rides. Theres also stuff to do in the area around Ilocos Norte such as the windmills, lighthouses, beaches, and ruins. I don't know how everything is over there during Covid, but my family's roadtrip from years ago is one of my treasured memories.
    or maybe come visit us in Bicol! Lots of mountains, beaches, waterfalls, ruins, parks and lakes

    You're correct: empanada it is. We have them here as well (yet another Hispano-Mexico cuisine legacy) :q While we were colonized for more than 300 years by Spain, much of the culture is more Mexican, owing to the wave of Mexican constingency (soldiers, etc.) brought by the Spaniards when they ventured far east.
    You've learned "masarap" (Tagalog for "(it's) delicious"). When in Cebu and the Visayas Islands and Mindanao, one says "lami kaayo (lah-mɪ kah-ɑ:-yo [but not like "yow" though]): "very delicious" :D Not similar to Filipinos from Metro Manila or even most of Luzon, Visayans are generally more laid back and affectionate (warm, sweet), much like when you mentioned noticing the disctinction in the language soon after you landed in Cebu :) I, too, could see you likely more inclined to choose Cebu over Luzon or Manila which is not a bad choice. Enjoy, safe travels!

    • @rv_PH
      @rv_PH Před 2 lety +1

      @@ShevandDev I forgot to qualify that the Visayan word "kaayo" is "very" :) The central group of Philippine islands is the Visayas; the Cebu inhabitants are Cebuanos; the Visayan language is locally referred to as Bisaya (emphasis on the last syllable) as is also called in Mindanao where Bisaya is lingua franca among locals the way Tagalog is in much of Metro Manila and Southern and whole of Luzon (Ilocano it is in Northern Luzon) ü Everywhere else, people speak and understand English, so you're good wherever you find yourselves in the archipelago :D

      @R V.....You gave them the wrong pronunciation of 'lami'. The 'i' in 'lami' is not long 'i' but short 'i' only with a glottal stop - this way : LAH - ME.

      @rv_PH Před 2 lety +1
