  • In this video I unbox and setup the Sicce Whale Canister on my 12 gallon Hydra Aquatics bookshelf aquarium. I am looking forward to putting this little canister through its paces and finding out exactly how well built it actually is! Next video in this series will be aquascaping and transferring the 17 gallon low-tech planted tank into this awesome glass box!

    I was wondering where you've disappeared to after not seeing anything for years on Big Al's, latest video on it is 5years ago. Finally found out that you have your own channel, but no posts here past 4 years either. Life gets busy & people do change things they usually used to do. Just wanted to say that me and many other viewers miss your ever so amazing personality, voice & knowledge, watching your videos on aquariums & fishkeeping. You deserve your own TV show about this hobby. I absolutely used to love watching every Big Al's video you posted back then. Watching videos of Mr.Takashi Amano, James Findley, George Farmer, Green Aqua, King of DIY Joey and Big Al's (Thomas) I loved watching videos by all these people. You & all of them have been a huge influence on me and it's what got me into this hobby and I'm grateful for the knowledge you all have imparted on me and many more beginners. Miss you & your videos Bro Thomas! Hope you're doing amazing & I'll end this the way you always did... Keep On Tankin!

      Wow, thank you so much!!!
      I've actually been making videos for Bulk Reef Supply (BRSTV) for the last 4 years, focused mostly on reefkeeping. I have been itching to get back to freshwater and vivariums though! So maybe I'll just have to start making videos here again too!!

    Awesome unbox and setup video. I saw on your Instagram that the tank is already set up and planted, I expect that'll be a great video too! Can't wait to see that and more! 👊

    I really like this style of aquarium. Long and low. Very nice, Thomas. Thank you for the Sicce Whale 120 unboxing. I'm looking forward to the next steps in setting up your new bookshelf tank!

    I'm excited for this build. I've always wanted bigger tanks but the long versions of smaller tanks are starting to excite me.

    Is it worth it for a 20 gallon acrylic ?

  • @AquariumCop
    @AquariumCop Před 4 lety

    I had a whale of time lol nice the tank was low to fit the natural bends of the tubes... ive warmed tubes to re-shape them in the past. I do like the size of this filter .. whats min / max filtration they recommed , just curious because ive never heard of this filter so i cant look up specs ✌💞

    So why not have the intake and output on opposite sides of the tank?

    I love the looks of the 12 gallon bookshelf. If I wanted to do a Neolamprologus multifasciatus tank, would the 12 gallon be big enough? Would you go for a 20 long instead?

    • @NaturalAquaria
      @NaturalAquaria  Před 4 lety

      I'd go with the 20. They make a slightly larger version of this tank as well that would work better!

    That’s a nice looking tank. Love the driftwood. Are the other Sicce canister filters called shark, kraken, minnow and guppy? Also, you forgot the blackground!

    Thomas Which canister filter do you suggest Fluval 407 or Sicce whale 500 for 110 gallon aquarium?

    • @ThomasBReef
      @ThomasBReef Před 3 lety

      I personally really dislike Fluval canisters. I've seen way too many returns, parts that broke prematurely, and had units that were defective in one way or another right out of the box. So sorry Fluval, the design is really neat, but it just has never worked as reliably as most other canisters. That said, Sicce and Eheim I would certainly go for!

    13 gallon bookcase is my new favourite tank style, you were absolutely right Thomas. I have one concern though, where is back blackground?

    If you have a filter with a spray bar in a rectangular tank, should it be on the short edge spraying down the tank or pointing towards the back of the tank?

    • @NaturalAquaria
      @NaturalAquaria  Před 4 lety +1

      I usually have it on the side spraying down the tank. Some spray bars are too long for that in which case I cut them to fit, or put them on the back of the tank spraying towards the front.

    • @Philobr
      @Philobr Před 4 lety

      @@NaturalAquaria cool, thanks, I had mine attached to the back in the corner with a short spray bar point to the back of the tank.
