New Brake Hose from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ia/1ABRL00803
This video shows you how to install a front brake hose on your 2001-2007 Volvo V70. A leaking brake hose is bad news! Losing fluid, or getting air in the system can cause the brakes to weaken or fail completely. Old, dry rotted, cracking, or bulging lines are on the verge of breaking and starting a leak.
This process should be similar on the following vehicles:
    2001 Volvo V70
    2002 Volvo V70
    2003 Volvo V70
    2004 Volvo V70
    2005 Volvo V70
    2006 Volvo V70
    2007 Volvo V70

When it came to gravity bleeding, why didn't you have the reservoir cap removed? Surely the brake fluid would succumb to gravity quicker if air could replace the brake fluid in the reservoir quicker. Just a thought 🙂
